Minister of Health Welcomes Minister of Housing to Discuss Joint Healthcare Projects

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, received Engineer Sherif El Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Health and Population in the New Administrative Capital. The meeting aimed to discuss several joint projects in the healthcare sector, as well as major development projects in new cities and along the North Coast.

These meetings fall under an integrated strategic vision that seeks to develop the North Coast through the establishment of comprehensive urban communities offering high-quality medical services, contributing to achieving sustainable development.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, revealed that the meeting discussed a proposal to establish the New Alamein Hospital as an extension of the Alamein Model Hospital. The meeting reviewed the architectural designs and functional layouts of the project, which will include 196 beds, 30 dialysis machines, 8 operating rooms, 18 outpatient clinics, 5 laboratories, and a central blood bank.

Regarding Ras El Hekma Hospital, Abdel Ghaffar explained that discussions were held on a plan to upgrade and enhance the hospital’s efficiency. In addition, the proposal included the establishment of a specialized hospital for mental health, addiction treatment, and geriatric care in New Alamein City, as part of the ministry’s broader plan to expand mental health services across all Egyptian governorates.

The meeting also addressed the development of Al-Dabaa Hospital and the ambulance station at Wadi El Natrun, along with the proposal to establish an integrated regional ambulance center in New Alamein and expand ambulance service points along the Alamein Road. Moreover, progress was reviewed for major healthcare projects such as Al-Obour and Qena Hospitals, in addition to exploring the possibility of constructing a new hospital in New Cairo to help reduce population pressure and enhance healthcare services.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and Engineer Sherif El Sherbiny witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Health and Population and the Ministry of Housing.

The MoU aims to improve the healthcare infrastructure in new cities and includes plans to establish advanced medical facilities that adhere to the highest international standards in design and implementation, ensuring full compliance with quality and safety regulations to support Egypt’s Vision 2030 for sustainable development.

The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including Dr. Mohamed El Tayeb, Dr. Sherif Mostafa, Dr. Amr Rashid, and Dr. Rasha El Sharkawy from the Ministry of Health, as well as Mrs. Elham El Sergany, Engineer Hassan Mostafa, Engineer Ammar Mandour, Engineer Ahmed Ibrahim, and Engineer Khaled Sorour from the Ministry of Housing.
