Major General Khaled Shuaib, Governor of Matrouh, announced that Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, has approved the strategic plan for 21 villages in Matrouh Governorate. He noted that the decision will soon be published in the Official Gazette. The governor confirmed that this step represents progress toward regulating construction activities, eliminating informal building, and protecting state rights.
On this occasion, the Governor of Matrouh expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Housing, the General Authority for Urban Planning, all responsible entities, and the engineering teams that contributed to completing this file. He stressed that the governorate continues to support efforts to improve citizens’ lives, achieve urban stability, and push forward comprehensive development across various sectors.
For her part, Engineer Amal Arafa, Director General of the Urban Planning Department in Matrouh, explained that the decision covers 21 villages in the governorate. Among these villages are Abu Shrouf and Bahy El-Din in the Siwa area; El-Sharnobiya in El-Dabaa Center; and El-Shamama and Awlad Gabreel in El-Hamam Center. The list also includes Abu Morayq, El-Zayyat, El-Garawla, Alloush, Awlad Marei, Halazin, Abu Laho Qebly, El-Sweinât, Abu Laho Bahary, and Sidi Haneesh in Marsa Matrouh Center, in addition to El-Fakhry, Abu Mazhoud, El-Zafer, and El-Zawaida in Sidi Barrani Center, as well as Abu Zureiba and Beqeig in El-Salloum Center.
With this approval, the governorate has now completed the strategic plans for 49 villages, while work remains underway for 6 villages included in new urban development plans. Meanwhile, Umm El-Sogheir village in the Siwa area remains the only one outside the approved plan, with work still ongoing.
