Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, inaugurated the developed June 30 Corniche during his tour of Matrouh Governorate and also inspected the “Egypt’s Treasures in Matrouh” exhibition as part of efforts to follow up on projects aimed at developing infrastructure and supporting tourism activity in the governorate.
Waterfront Development
The prime minister listened to an explanation from Major General Dr. Mohamed El-Zamlout, governor of Matrouh, regarding the development works on the Corniche, which are part of a project to develop 100 kilometers of roads within Matrouh City, with the aim of improving the transportation network and keeping pace with population growth and the expansion of tourism activity in the governorate.
The governor explained that the development works included widening the Corniche road to three traffic lanes in each direction, in addition to constructing a modern tourist promenade, carrying out landscaping and interlock paving works, and completing the traffic signage and turning systems.
He added that the project included the installation of 570 lighting poles, contributing to improved safety and security and greater traffic flow throughout the city.
New Tourism Services
The governor of Matrouh noted that the development of the June 30 Corniche included the construction of 45 new cafeterias and retail outlets, as well as an expansion of beach areas through the addition of a layer of sand along the Corniche, providing a recreational outlet for citizens and visitors.
He affirmed that the development works were carried out in cooperation between Matrouh Governorate and the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces, which implemented the project along a stretch of approximately 2 kilometers, from the Eastern Port area to Al-Boset, in accordance with quality and efficiency standards.
Egypt’s Treasures Exhibition
During the tour, the prime minister inspected the “Egypt’s Treasures in Matrouh” exhibition, held on the developed June 30 Corniche, bringing together products from a number of Egyptian governorates in one venue.
The governor of Matrouh explained that the exhibition features participation from 20 governorates from across the country, in addition to around 22 shops located along the Corniche. It showcases a diverse range of heritage, handicraft, environmental, and food products that reflect the unique character of each governorate.
Supporting Handicrafts
The Prime Minister toured the various sections of the exhibition and watched traditional and folkloric performances. He praised the quality and diversity of the products on display, stressing the importance of the exhibition in promoting heritage products, supporting small-scale industries, and creating job opportunities.
Madbouly highlighted the role of such events in preserving traditional crafts and enhancing the economic value of local products, which represent an important part of Egypt’s cultural heritage.
