Low Public Response to Amended Building Reconciliation Law, Says Head of Local Administration Committee

Engineer Ahmed El-Segini, Head of the Local Administration Committee in the House of Representatives, revealed the weak public response to the amended Building Reconciliation Law.

In a phone interview with TV host Amr Adib on the program “Al-Hekaya” on MBC Masr on Friday evening, El-Segini highlighted that despite the available facilitation measures to address any issues or challenges in implementing the Building Reconciliation Law, the number of applications for reconciliation remains low.

El-Segini noted that the government has recently made efforts to simplify procedures for citizens and expedite the acquisition of documents and permits required for reconciliation on building violations. However, the response from the public has been very minimal, even though the law has been amended multiple times.

He further mentioned that the first session of the Local Administration Committee in the House of Representatives, after the parliamentary recess, will be dedicated to assessing the impact of the law’s implementation. He emphasized that the reconciliation on building violations is a top priority.
