Engineer Ashraf Fathi, Head of the New Damietta Development Authority, announced the launch of the “Together, New Damietta is More Beautiful” initiative, with the participation of several school students in beautification, tree planting, and cleanliness activities across the city. This initiative is being carried out in cooperation and coordination with the Board of Trustees of New Damietta, chaired by Dr. Osama Hafila.
The initiative is in line with the directives of Engineer Sherif Al-Shirbini, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, to promote active and serious community participation, utilize the potential of our student youth in development and enhancement projects, and preserve the aesthetic appearance and urban form of new cities.
The Head of the New Damietta Development Authority explained that the initiative aims to renew the city’s spirit, activate community participation, and deepen the values of loyalty and belonging among city residents.
He further noted that 46 male and female students from the city participated in the initiative’s activities, adding that the authority provided the necessary tools, paints, and trees for the students to plant.
In a related context, initiative ‘srafinitiative ‘sraf Fathi Mahmoud inspected the repair and enhancement works on the road linking the city’s entrance from the Damietta Governorate to the city’s western coastal entrance. The roadwork utilizes the FDR (Full Depth Reclamation) technique, which involves reconstructing the asphalt layer after recycling it on-site. This method is environmentally friendly and meets specifications that can withstand high-stress levels.
The Head of the Development Authority emphasized continuing road maintenance and rehabilitation works in the city to meet the residents’ needs and ensure road safety.
