In implementation of the directives of Engineer Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, to address violations, eliminate informal practices, and preserve the urban appearance of new cities, the development authorities of 6th of October City, Hadayek October, New Damietta, and Badr launched extensive campaigns targeting the removal of encroachments, illegal occupations, and building violations across several areas.

Engineer Nader Zafaar, Head of the 6th of October City Development Authority, stated that a large-scale campaign was carried out in the southern sector, covering the Second and Third Districts.

The campaign resulted in the enforcement of 11 demolition decisions for various violations, with all violations removed and the sites restored to their original condition in accordance with the licenses issued by the city authority. Legal measures were also taken against the violators.

The Head of the 6th of October City Authority added that an immediate demolition was carried out to remove a building violation involving an unauthorized increase in the permitted construction ratio for rooftop rooms at Plot No. (467) in the Second Neighborhood, Second District.

A major campaign was also conducted to remove illegal occupations around the American Mall, resulting in the clearance of all encroachments that had been obstructing the movement of residents and pedestrians.

In Hadayek October City, Engineer Yasser Abdel Halim, Head of the City Development Authority, said that extensive campaigns led to the seizure of a number of violating vehicles at the Horus entrance and the 41-Building Project area.

The campaigns also removed illegal occupations around the Wholesale Market bus station and carried out the immediate demolition of an unauthorized room on the fourth floor in the Zahret October Area Seven of the “Build Your Home” project.

He added that the campaigns also included the immediate removal of illegal rear setbacks on one plot in Zahret October—Area Seven of the “Build Your Home” project; the demolition of wooden formwork and rear setback walls on another plot; as well as the removal of unauthorized fourth-floor walls and illegal rear setback walls on several other plots in the same area, as part of the city’s immediate response to building violations.

In the same context, Engineer Ashraf Fathy Mahmoud, Head of the New Damietta City Development Authority, stated that 15 closure and sealing decisions were implemented against basements and medical clinics operating in violation of regulations in the First, Second, and Fifth Districts. The campaign also removed illegal encroachments on designated building lines, disconnected utilities from violating facilities, and initiated the necessary legal procedures.

Meanwhile, Engineer El-Sayed Amin, Head of the Badr City Development Authority, explained that the authority carried out a campaign that resulted in identifying and removing a number of illegal water connections and taking legal action against the violators, in addition to reviewing the status of customers with overdue financial payments.

The heads of the new city development authorities affirmed that these campaigns will continue on a regular basis to combat all forms of violations, prevent the spread of informal practices, preserve the cities’ urban appearance, and strictly enforce the law to ensure the sustainability of quality of life in Egypt’s new cities.
