Lieutenant General Khaled Fouda, Advisor to the President for Local Development, conducted an extensive inspection tour of development projects in Historic Cairo. The tour covered key areas such as Bab Al-Nasr, Al-Hussein Square, Al-Sayeda Aisha Square, Al-Muizz Street, Al-Banhawi Street, and Al-Hussein University Hospital. These efforts align with the state’s commitment to revitalize Egypt’s cultural heritage.
Fouda emphasized that these projects mark a significant step in restoring the charm of historic neighborhoods. They aim to boost tourism, stimulate economic activity, and enhance the quality of life for local residents.

Among the standout projects is Al-Fustat Development, spanning 500 acres, making it the largest of its kind in the Middle East. Fouda commended the substantial progress achieved, noting its potential to generate thousands of job opportunities and position Cairo as a global tourist destination.
Engineer Khaled Seddik, Chairman of the Urban Development Fund, stated that these initiatives align with the country’s vision for sustainable development. The projects focus on preserving and enhancing the social and economic fabric of historic districts, creating a new historical and tourist landmark in Cairo that restores its prominence and heritage.
Officials in Attendance
The tour was accompanied by key officials, including Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Cairo Governor; Major General Ibrahim Abdelhady, Deputy Governor for the Western Region; Engineer Ashraf Mansour, Deputy Governor for the Southern Region; and Mohamed Abu Saada, Head of the National Organization for Urban Harmony. Several leaders from the Urban Development Fund and the Cairo Governorate were also present.
