As part of the state’s efforts to support investment in the education sector and expand the establishment of distinguished educational institutions in New Cities, the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) signed a contract to allocate a plot of land to the International German University to establish a university project in New Cairo.

According to the contract, Plot No. (35) at the Beit Al Watan Services Center in the eastern extension of New Cairo has been allocated, covering approximately 25,796.10 square meters, for a university project in accordance with the regulations and requirements approved by the New Urban Communities Authority.

In this context, Engineer Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, affirmed that supporting distinguished educational activities in New Cities is part of the state’s vision for achieving integrated urban development.

She explained that building modern cities is not limited to establishing housing units and buildings but also extends to providing various elements of quality of life and educational, healthcare, and social services.

The Housing Minister noted that the ministry is working to maximize the use of state assets, attract serious investments, and allocate land to activities and projects that create genuine development value. She also stressed the importance of continuous monitoring to ensure that allocated land is transformed into actual projects that serve citizens and support sustainable development in new cities.

For his part, Dr. Walid Abbas, Deputy Minister of Housing for New Urban Communities, affirmed that the New Urban Communities Authority has adopted a system aimed at improving the management and investment of land and achieving its development and economic returns, while prioritizing serious projects capable of providing genuine and sustainable services to New Cities.

Dr. Walid Abbas explained that allocating the land for the university project in New Cairo falls within this approach. He confirmed that the Authority’s role does not end with signing the contract or allocating the land but extends to monitoring implementation and compliance with the approved timelines, requirements, and regulations, ensuring that the land is used for its intended purpose.

Dr. Ahmed Reda Emara, Supervisor of the Real Estate and Commercial Affairs Sector and Head of the Central Unit at the New Urban Communities Authority, said that the sector is working to establish a system based on seriousness, governance, and the swift completion of procedures, along with continuous post-allocation monitoring.

He explained that the objective is not merely to allocate land but to ensure its development and operation for the designated activity in accordance with the approved timelines and requirements. He affirmed that attracting international educational institutions to establish projects in New Cities enhances the investment and development value of these cities and provides advanced educational services.

The contract was signed on behalf of the New Urban Communities Authority by Dr. Ahmed Reda Emara, Supervisor of the Real Estate and Commercial Affairs Sector, while Dr. Reinhold Locker, Director of the German International Studies Center (GISC), signed on behalf of the International German University.

This agreement comes as part of the New Urban Communities Authority’s strategy to diversify activities and investments within New Cities, support educational and service projects, and achieve the optimal use of land. It also aligns with the urban, population, and investment growth rates witnessed by New Cairo and contributes to strengthening its position as an integrated city that attracts investment, residents, and services.
