In implementation of the directives of Eng. Randa El Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Mai Abdel Hamid, CEO of the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Fund, received Major General Dr. Ismail Kamal, Governor of South Sinai, at the Fund’s headquarters in Cairo.
The meeting was attended by a number of officials from the Fund and the governorate to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in implementing social housing projects and meeting the housing needs of low-income citizens in the governorate.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mai Abdel Hamid welcomed the governor of South Sinai, affirming the fund’s keenness to strengthen cooperation with the governorate in implementing more social housing projects, which would contribute to providing adequate housing for low-income citizens under the presidential “Housing for All Egyptians” initiative.
The Fund’s CEO reviewed the status of social housing projects in South Sinai Governorate, explaining that 6,508 housing units have been implemented in the governorate, of which 6,378 units have been allocated and 5,762 units have been handed over to beneficiaries to date.
She added that the completed units are distributed across various areas of the governorate, including 3,696 units in El Tor City, 608 units in Abu Zenima, 588 units in Nuweiba, 552 units in Dahab, 528 units in Abu Redis, 384 units in Ras Sidr, 72 units in Saint Catherine, 48 units in Sharm El Sheikh, and 32 units in Taba.
For his part, Major General Dr. Ismail Kamal praised the role played by the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Fund in providing housing units for low-income citizens across the country, stressing that the projects implemented by the Fund in South Sinai Governorate contribute to improving quality of life, enhancing social stability, and meeting citizens’ needs.
The governor of South Sinai also reviewed the governorate’s future housing needs, stressing the continuation of cooperation and coordination with the fund to provide suitable land and overcome any obstacles facing project implementation in a manner that ensures the expansion of social housing units available to citizens.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides agreed to sign a cooperation protocol in the coming period to implement new housing units under the presidential “Housing for All Egyptians” initiative. The first phase will begin in the Al-Rawaisat area in Sharm El Sheikh and in El Tor City, while plans to expand the implementation of new projects in other areas across the governorate will be studied based on actual needs.
