Engineer Amr Khattab, spokesperson for the Ministry of Housing, revealed details of the New Urban Communities Authority’s decision regarding the procedures for waiving apartments, lands, and commercial shops in the new cities. He emphasized that the main purpose behind the decision is to facilitate matters for citizens, not to withdraw units or lands from them.
During his remarks, Khattab stressed the necessity for all owners who have not yet registered their properties to head to the respective city authority offices—whether for apartments, lands, or commercial shops. The aim of this step is to review the applicable fees and learn about the required procedures to complete the registration process and the necessary documents for it.
Engineer Khattab pointed out that there are major discounts of up to 70% on waiver fees, compared to the previous discount of 50%. He clarified that these facilitations come within the framework of encouraging citizens to speed up the registration process, which helps avoid any delays that may lead to future issues. He also added that the ministry has decided to extend the registration period for up to six months, giving owners more time to settle their status.

He further explained that extending the period does not necessarily mean that allocation will be canceled immediately once the deadline ends. Instead, there will be administrative procedures that include reviewing documents and ensuring compliance with legal and administrative requirements before any cancellation decision is made.
Khattab confirmed that these facilitations aim to ease burdens on citizens and clients, while simultaneously ensuring full compliance with the legal and administrative regulations governing the waiver of apartments, lands, and commercial shops. He concluded by stating that the decision strikes a balance between simplifying procedures for citizens and guaranteeing adherence to the existing legal and regulatory framework.
