Housing Officials Conduct Inspection Tour of Water and Sanitation Projects in Beni Suef

Engineer Amr Khattab, Assistant to the Minister of Housing for Technical Affairs, together with Major General Amin Shoukry, Chairman of the National Organization for Potable Water and Sanitary Drainage, carried out an inspection visit to review a number of drinking water and sanitation projects included in the presidential initiative “Decent Life” in Beni Suef Governorate.

The visit is part of the implementation of directives issued by Engineer Randa El-Manshawi, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, emphasizing the importance of continuous monitoring of ongoing projects.

Details of the Tour

The inspection tour reviewed the implementation progress and operational status of projects executed by the National Organization for Potable Water and Sanitary Drainage. These include sewage networks serving 53 villages and gravity pipelines and pumping/lifting stations covering 52 villages, as well as eight wastewater treatment plant projects.

The tour also included projects implemented by the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater under the presidential “Decent Life” initiative within the governorate. These comprise the construction of two drinking water treatment plants, the renewal and upgrading of water networks in 66 villages, the extension and reinforcement of sewage networks in six villages, and the execution of household connection works across 66 villages.

Additionally, the officials examined projects carried out by the Central Agency for Reconstruction, affiliated with the Ministry, which include establishing health units in 34 villages and electrical network works in 66 villages.

The housing officials further reviewed the detailed progress of ongoing wastewater treatment and drinking water facilities under the “Decent Life” initiative.

These include the Dandil wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 40/80 thousand m³/day, the Tonsa expansion treatment plant with a capacity of 20/40 thousand m³/day, the Abu Saleh Island treatment plant with a capacity of 2/3 thousand m³/day, the Jabal El Nour treatment plant with a capacity of 2/3 thousand m³/day, and the Kafr Nasser water treatment plant with a capacity of 34 thousand m³/day.
