Eng. Mostafa El-Naggar, First Undersecretary of the Ministry and Head of the Housing and Utilities Sector, held a meeting with a delegation from the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) office in Egypt, headed by Dr. Ahmed Rizk, Director of the Programme’s office in Egypt.

The meeting was held in line with the directives of Eng. Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, to discuss a number of areas of joint cooperation between the two sides.

The meeting comes as part of the close cooperation between the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), and in implementation of the directives of Eng. Randa El-Menshawy to strengthen international partnerships and exchange expertise in support of the state’s efforts to achieve sustainable urban development and enhance housing policies in line with international best practices.

The meeting included a comprehensive review of several strategic priority files for Egypt’s housing sector. Discussions focused on the methodology and implementation steps for evaluating the preliminary version of the National Housing Profile, which represents a key step toward developing modern, data-driven housing policies based on accurate indicators.

The initiative is intended to keep pace with the country’s ongoing urban development boom and pave the way for updating the National Housing Strategy.

The meeting also reviewed the outcomes and recommendations of the Rental Workshop, which was held in coordination with the Egyptian Impact Lab, with the aim of exploring ways to develop and regulate the rental market while achieving a balanced framework for all stakeholders.

During the meeting, Eng. Mostafa El-Naggar welcomed the proposal to hold a roundtable meeting in the coming period with the participation of relevant authorities to explain the mechanisms for implementing the Reconciliation Law, review its key amendments, and exchange views on implementation mechanisms.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the importance of continuing strategic cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Housing and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) in a manner that supports efforts to further develop Egypt’s housing sector.

Eng. Mostafa El-Naggar also stressed that the continuation of this cooperation represents a key pillar for formulating a comprehensive and flexible future vision for Egypt’s housing system.
