Housing Minister Reviews Progress on Social Housing Projects

On Tuesday evening, Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held a periodic meeting to review the progress of social housing units in various new cities. The meeting was attended by officials from the ministry, the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Fund, and the New Urban Communities Authority.

At the outset, Minister El-Sherbiny provided an update on the implementation of 100,000 housing units, in line with the directives of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly. The discussion focused on the progress of 50,000 units, including:

  • 20,016 units following the standard social housing model.
  • 30,000 units designed as part of the “Green Housing” initiative in several new cities.

Additionally, the meeting reviewed the steps underway to commence the construction of another 50,000 units.

These efforts reflect the government’s commitment to expanding affordable housing opportunities and promoting environmentally sustainable urban development across Egypt’s new cities.
