Engineer Randa El Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, reviewed the progress of a number of infrastructure and service projects in several new cities as part of efforts to improve efficiency and enhance the quality of services provided to citizens, in line with the state’s strategy to achieve sustainable urban development.
The Minister of Housing explained that infrastructure and service projects represent the cornerstone of achieving sustainable urban development, noting that the implementation of road networks, utilities, and public services contributes to attracting further investments, improving the efficiency of new cities, and providing a suitable environment for living, working, and investment.
Engineer Randa El Menshawy stressed the importance of continuous coordination between the ministry’s agencies and the executing companies to ensure the highest implementation rates while adhering to occupational health and safety standards and maintaining quality throughout all stages of project execution.
The Minister reviewed a report on the progress of several projects. The report highlighted an inspection tour by Engineer Marwa Hussein, Head of the New Capital Development Authority, to monitor work on the Nile River intake and raw water transmission pipeline project leading to the water treatment plant.
The project is one of the largest water transmission projects in Egypt, involving approximately 150 kilometers of water transmission pipelines with diameters of up to 2,200 mm, in addition to the intake structure, pumping stations, and water treatment plant. The project is expected to strengthen the water supply system and support development and urban expansion plans.
In Badr City, the city authority, headed by Engineer El Sayed Amin, continued upgrading the wastewater system by diverting the sewage line coming from the New Administrative Capital as part of a plan to separate domestic wastewater from industrial wastewater. This will improve the efficiency of treatment plants and enhance the quality of treated irrigation water.
In New October City, the authority, headed by Engineer Mohamed Abdel Maqsoud, continued implementing the industrial wastewater treatment plant with an initial treatment capacity of 26,000 cubic meters per day. The project has reached advanced stages of implementation and will support industrial development while enabling the reuse of treated water for irrigation in accordance with sustainable development principles.
In Hadayek October City, the report stated that Engineer Yasser Abdel Halim, Head of the City Authority, followed up on the implementation of a comprehensive plan to upgrade public services and utilities. The plan includes routine maintenance, waste removal, utility maintenance, electrical works, landscaping, and green space maintenance.
In the education sector, construction of the Al-Azhar institutes is continuing, with the first institute exceeding 85% completion and the second surpassing 50%, while work continues according to the approved schedule. The report also covered ongoing works in New Fayoum City, where Engineer Ali Saad, Head of the City Authority, confirmed the completion of telecommunications network upgrades.
The second telecommunications cabinet in the Second District has been handed over in preparation for providing landline and internet services, while all telecommunications cabinets in the First District have also been delivered. Work is also continuing on telecommunications networks in the 37.5-feddan Social Housing area, supporting the completion of infrastructure and improving services for residents.
In New Beni Suef City, under the supervision of Engineer Ahmed Abdel Gaber, work continued on upgrading and improving the efficiency of roads, main corridors, and city entrances, in addition to rehabilitating roads in the light industries zone, while emphasizing adherence to technical specifications and project schedules.
In Sadat City, Engineer Mohamed Adel Anwar, Head of the City Authority, followed up on the development of the 1,600-meter Central Axis, improvements to city entrances and industrial zones, and the implementation of turning points on the Regional Ring Road.
The authority also announced the commencement of three new telecommunications towers, which will improve telecommunications and internet services while supporting Egypt’s digital transformation efforts.
At the conclusion of the report, Engineer Randa El Menshawy affirmed that the Ministry will continue intensifying field monitoring of various projects and accelerating implementation rates to achieve the state’s urban expansion goals while providing integrated urban communities with advanced infrastructure and services that meet the expectations of both citizens and investors.
