Housing Minister Oversees Progress on Key Projects in New Cairo

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, reviewed the progress of various ongoing projects in New Cairo, including “Sakan Misr” residential units in the Exhibition Land area, the presidential “Housing for All Egyptians” initiative, sewage treatment plants, and road development.

The Minister emphasized the importance of regular monitoring and setting clear timelines for the completion of these projects. He also highlighted the need for proper facilities, transportation, and services in residential areas, urging collaboration with relevant authorities.

In response, Engineer Abdelraouf El-Ghaity, Head of the New Cairo City Authority, conducted an inspection of several sites. These included the “Sakan Misr” project in the Exhibition Land area, the sewage station No. 12 in Al-Andalus, and the “Housing for All Egyptians” initiative, which includes 222 buildings with a total of 5,328 units, ranging in size from 90 to 120 square meters.

During the inspection, El-Ghaity directed the establishment of central storage facilities for sewage and water network spare parts and suggested the implementation of an electronic inventory management system with barcode tracking.

The inspection also covered the status of sewage stations, particularly in the southern academic area, and the ongoing roadworks across the city. El-Ghaity confirmed that the sewage system, including pumps and emergency generators, is fully operational. He stressed the importance of completing necessary supply orders and ensuring continuous maintenance to meet project deadlines.

Additionally, El-Ghaity noted that road development in New Cairo is undergoing significant improvements, with upgrades to both main and secondary roads. A key project is the development of the garden road in Al-Andalus, connecting Southern Ninety Street with the Obour axis, enhancing accessibility to critical areas such as Al-Andalus and nearby compounds.

One of the innovative methods being employed in road development is the Full Depth Reclamation (FDR) technique, which recycles old asphalt layers, adding cement to maximize efficiency and reduce waste, leading to faster project completion.
