During an inspection tour by Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, and Eng. Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, reviewed the implementation status of utility and infrastructure works for development projects in the area.
The Housing Minister confirmed that the New Ras El Hekma project is one of the most important investment and development projects in the North Coast region. It is part of the state’s vision to maximize the use of investment opportunities and establish integrated urban communities that contribute to supporting the national economy and attracting more local and foreign investments.
In this context, Eng. Randa El-Menshawy highlighted the key role played by the Ministry of Housing in coordinating all activities within the project area. These efforts aim to facilitate the development process and overcome any obstacles that may arise, in line with the project’s scale and importance, and in cooperation with all relevant state agencies.
During the visit, the Housing Minister provided a detailed explanation of the role and impact of coordination and joint cooperation between various state agencies and the project company regarding the allocation of the project’s land to the project company. She also praised the scale of work being carried out by Egyptian contracting companies within the Ras El Hekma project.
Eng. Randa El-Menshawy said that, regarding the Shams El Hekma City project, the ministry is working to accelerate the implementation of utility and infrastructure works. The project is also among the ministry’s top priorities.
The ministry is following up on the implementation of the urgent phase of drinking water, wastewater, roads, and electricity works. It is also working to complete the remaining works and increase implementation rates to ensure that the targeted areas are ready and that basic services are provided as quickly as possible.
The Housing Minister added that 100% of the drinking water and wastewater networks, as well as aggregate and asphalt works for roads, have been completed in Areas A, B, and C as part of the urgent phase. This reflects the rapid implementation of basic utilities and the preparation of the targeted areas for the alternative land allocated for relocation.
The Housing Minister also explained that electricity and lighting networks have been completed and power has been supplied to the alternative land plots in Urgent Phases A, B, and C.
Electricity networks have also been implemented in several areas and communities within the urgent phase, with completion rates reaching 100%. This contributes to improving the level of services provided to citizens throughout the project’s implementation phases.
The minister noted that work is currently underway in Area D, which covers 1,400 feddans. The implementation rate of wastewater networks has reached around 85%, while water network works are currently underway. Instructions have also been issued to upgrade the main 6 October Street by carrying out expansion works and installing complete utility networks to improve services for citizens and facilitate traffic movement.
Eng. Randa El-Menshawy also explained to the prime minister and his delegation that the implementation status of utility projects on the alternative land located south of the high-speed train is being closely monitored.
The urgent phases of water and wastewater network works in the area are nearing completion. Work is also underway on the water pipeline supplying the area, as well as on the water tanks serving the area. Works are being intensified to complete aggregate and asphalt works for roads in the urgent phases and to continue the remaining works according to the required specifications.
