On the sidelines of her participation in the 13th session of the World Urban Forum held in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, under the theme “Housing the World: Safe and Resilient Cities and Communities,” taking place from May 17 to 22, 2026, Engineer Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, met with Mr. Adib Ibn Ibrahim, Minister of State in charge of Housing in the Kingdom of Morocco.
The meeting focused on exploring ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the fields of housing and sustainable urban development.
At the outset of the meeting, Engineer Randa El-Menshawy highlighted the depth of the historic and fraternal relations between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Kingdom of Morocco, stressing the commitment of the leadership in both countries to reinforcing frameworks of bilateral cooperation across various fields, particularly those related to sustainable urban development, housing, infrastructure, and the exchange of successful expertise and experiences.
The minister of housing pointed to Egypt’s leading and successful experience in implementing social housing projects, upgrading unsafe and informal areas, and developing smart new cities. She affirmed that Egypt has achieved a major breakthrough in recent years in the housing and urban development sector, contributing to the provision of adequate housing for citizens.
Engineer Randa El-Menshawy also affirmed the full readiness of the Egyptian Ministry of Housing to cooperate with the Moroccan side and to transfer Egypt’s distinguished expertise in social housing, urban planning, and infrastructure project implementation in a way that supports sustainable development efforts in both brotherly nations.
For his part, the Moroccan minister of state in charge of housing expressed appreciation for Egypt’s urban development experience, praising the significant achievements made in the housing and urban development sector, and reaffirmed Morocco’s keenness to strengthen cooperation and exchange expertise with the Egyptian Ministry of Housing in a way that serves the mutual interests of both countries.
In conclusion, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening joint cooperation in the coming period, contributing to the achievement of sustainable urban development and the continued exchange of successful experiences and expertise between the two brotherly nations.
