Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing and Utilities, announced that the total investments in Obour City since its establishment until last June amounted to EGP 16.3 billion. He also stated that EGP 1.1 billion has been allocated for the financial year 2024/2025. During President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s tenure from 2014 until last June, investments reached EGP 11.37 billion. The minister made these remarks during his visit to the city to follow up on housing and utility projects, where he reviewed the financial status of revenues and expenditures, including land and unit sales, as well as self-generated revenues.
The Housing Minister inspected the progress of the drinking water and sewage systems in Obour City, including water production capacities and the status of power transformer stations. He also monitored road improvement projects in various areas, including Family Housing, the Second and Third Districts, and the enhancement of roads and sidewalks in Industrial Zone (A) and the Ninth District.
During his visit, he viewed service projects in Obour City, including a new hospital with a capacity of 189 beds. Additionally, he assessed housing projects such as the Rawdat Obour Housing Project, which comprises 134 buildings, and the Salam District Housing Project, which includes 90 buildings for alternative housing and 44 buildings for investment purposes, totaling 4,171 housing units. The projects also feature a primary and secondary school and the delivery of bakeries, a nursery, and a medical center. Furthermore, two administrative units for various services have been handed over. The minister prepared a plan to transform the Al-Salam landfill site into public parks.
