Engineer Randa El Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, inspected the Rumeila 4 Desalination Plant, with a production capacity of 65,000 cubic meters per day, accompanied by Major General Dr. Mohamed El Zamlout, Governor of Matrouh; Dr. Islam Ragab, Deputy Governor; Major General Engineer Ahmed El Desouky, Chairman of Matrouh Water Company; Dr. Mostafa El Shimy, Chairman of the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater; Omda Moussa Sbeita, Head of the Council of Village Chiefs and Elders; Brigadier General Ehab Nafea, Assistant Governor for Projects; Engineer Mohamed El Shorbagy, Governor’s Advisor for Water Affairs; and members of the House of Representatives.

During the tour, the Minister of Housing and the Governor of Matrouh received a detailed briefing from Major General Engineer Ahmed El Desouky, Chairman of Matrouh Water Company, on the plant’s production capacity.

He explained that the plant is located in the Rumeila area, east of Marsa Matrouh, and was established to address the governorate’s water shortage. It currently operates with a production capacity of 65,000 cubic meters per day, with the potential to expand to 130,000 cubic meters per day.

He added that the plant includes a seawater intake, a raw water pumping station, reverse osmosis (RO) desalination units, a transformer room, a power generation unit, sand filter tanks, cartridge filter tanks, a power generation building, an administrative building, staff accommodation, a laboratory building, and the overall plant infrastructure, including perimeter fencing, internal roads, and landscaped green areas.
