Engineer Randa Al-Menshawi met with Engineer Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the areas of housing and sustainable urban development.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of her participation in the 13th session of the World Urban Forum, hosted in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, under the theme “Housing the World: Safe and Resilient Cities and Communities,” held from May 17 to 22, 2026.

Engineer Randa Al-Menshawi stated that the Arab Republic of Egypt is proud of the long-standing historical and fraternal relations it shares with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, noting the ongoing expansion of cooperation frameworks across multiple sectors, particularly housing, urban planning, and new cities. She highlighted that this progress is supported by the strong ties between the leadership and peoples of both countries.

She further stressed the significance of exchanging expertise and successful experiences in urban planning and new city management, as well as in the development of housing projects. She also pointed to the importance of adopting the latest systems and technologies related to smart and sustainable cities to enhance quality of life and support sustainable development goals.

The discussions reviewed successful experiences from both Egypt and Saudi Arabia in executing large-scale urban development initiatives and new city projects, along with approaches to developing infrastructure and public services. They also examined opportunities for cooperation in city management and strengthening environmental sustainability in urban development projects.

Both sides additionally explored future cooperation prospects, including the exchange of expertise in smart city planning and management, promoting sustainability principles, and encouraging public-private partnerships in development projects. This aims to achieve greater urban integration and comprehensive development in both countries.

For his part, Engineer Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation with the Arab Republic of Egypt in housing and urban development sectors. He commended Egypt’s notable progress in recent years in establishing new cities, implementing national projects, and advancing infrastructure development.

He also reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to continuing the exchange of expertise and successful experiences with Egypt to support sustainable development and expand investment and urban cooperation opportunities between the two sides.

In conclusion, both parties underlined the importance of maintaining coordination and consultation and strengthening joint cooperation in the coming period in a way that enhances integration in sustainable urban development and serves the interests of both brotherly peoples.
