Housing Minister Holds Meeting to Enhance Urban Development Sector Performance

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held an extensive meeting with Engineer Amin Ghoneim, Deputy Chairman of the New Urban Communities Authority for the Development and Urban Development Sector, along with sector officials, to review work progress and strategies for performance improvement.

The minister emphasized the importance of maximizing the impact of the Development and Urban Development Sector. He called for evaluating the current situation, enhancing performance levels, and streamlining procedures to ensure the sector fulfills its duties efficiently. Regular meetings will be held to monitor progress and provide support to further the development of new cities.

Minister El-Sherbiny instructed the sector to intensify its efforts in monitoring the progress of residential, service, and development projects, as well as water and sewage infrastructure in new cities. He also stressed the need to establish specific standards for operations, maintenance, and cleanliness, selecting the best specialized companies, and conducting field assessments to ensure high-quality services for citizens. The minister called for swift action to address and resolve challenges and issues, ensuring continuous progress across various sectors in the new cities.

He urged the development of new work mechanisms within the sector to expedite processes and boost progress. Strategic objectives and targets across key areas such as infrastructure, housing, services, and development must be identified and pursued. The minister also called for empowering local committees in new cities to expedite work completion.

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny highlighted the need for effective allocation of human resources based on work requirements and optimal utilization of assets, equipment, and resources in new cities. He emphasized the role of field monitoring committees in assessing the current state of new cities, proposing solutions to problems, implementing corrective measures, and preserving the urban character and visual identity of these cities.

Concluding the meeting, the minister reaffirmed his commitment to providing full support to the sector’s employees to achieve their goals. He emphasized the importance of teamwork and collective efforts to serve the nation and its citizens.

During the meeting, Engineer Amin Ghoneim outlined the efforts of the Development and Urban Development Sector in monitoring and assessing performance in new cities. He discussed the evaluation of companies involved in operations and maintenance, plans to complete stalled projects, and studies on the current and future needs for water supply and sewage in new cities, in line with the minister’s directives.
