Housing Minister Highlights Importance of International Expertise for Egypt’s New Republic at World Urban Forum Press Conference

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, emphasized the critical need for exchanging international expertise to achieve sustainable development as the country builds its New Republic. His comments were made during a press conference on Egypt’s hosting of the World Urban Forum, broadcast on Extra News.

El-Sherbiny expressed his anticipation of participation from specialists, developers, investors, private companies, academics, and civil society in the upcoming forum. He stressed the importance of this event in addressing housing and sustainable development issues, which have been key priorities for Egypt since 2014.

He highlighted Egypt’s efforts in launching a national housing policy, which serves as a roadmap for providing adequate and affordable housing through the “Housing for Egyptians” project.

The minister also noted Egypt’s success in resolving issues related to informal settlements, particularly unsafe and unplanned areas, by providing alternative housing that ensures basic services and affordable living for all citizens.

El-Sherbiny concluded by stating that Egypt’s accumulated experience in addressing urban challenges over the last decade has become a model that can be shared with and applied by other nations.
