Eng. Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, followed up on the latest developments in work files and projects currently being implemented in New Suez City. This comes as part of efforts to accelerate the implementation of infrastructure, utilities, housing, and road projects, contributing to completing the city’s development components, improving its efficiency, and maximizing the use of its potential.
The Housing Minister emphasized the importance of utilizing all the economic, industrial, and tourism potential of New Suez City as one of the fourth-generation cities. She also stressed the need for continued field monitoring of various projects and the prompt resolution of any observations or obstacles that could affect the progress of work, ensuring that projects are completed, put into service, and utilized according to the specified timelines.
In this context, the Housing Minister received a report on the implementation status of several projects in New Suez City. Eng. Asmaa Makhlouf, Head of the New Suez City Development Authority, conducted field tours that included the main water lifting station, known as the “Booster,” and the main groundwater tank with a capacity of 10,000 cubic meters.
The tours also covered testing and final finishing works in preparation for completing the necessary arrangements and putting the system into service. The follow-up also covered the status of works at the natural gas pressure reduction station and the implementation of the city’s natural gas network. The main and secondary networks have reached an implementation rate of approximately 95%.
The report also reviewed the implementation of the New Suez Substation, with instructions to accelerate the pace of work and complete the remaining implementation stages. The report also addressed the status of works on the Strategic Link Bridge project. Work is underway to complete deep foundations, plain and reinforced concrete foundations, column casting, and the installation of precast beams.
Excavation works are also being carried out on the retaining wall of Ramp (B), which serves as the exit route from New Suez City to the Suez–Sokhna Road. The minister emphasized the importance of adhering to quality and safety standards and completing the works as quickly as possible.
Through the report, the Housing Minister also followed up on the implementation status of the “Diarna” residential project. The first phase includes 130 housing units in 5 buildings, with structural works being implemented according to the approved schedules.
Each building consists of a ground floor and five repeated floors, in addition to a rooftop penthouse floor. Each building contains 26 housing units equipped with an electric elevator. Unit areas range from 105 to 135 square meters, while penthouse units have an area of 155 square meters. The units will be delivered fully finished.
As part of efforts to improve quality of life and enhance the urban landscape, the housing minister followed up on landscaping and site development works across the city. These works include several axes, roads, squares, and city entrances, along with expanding green spaces, selecting trees and plants suitable for the climatic conditions, and applying more efficient irrigation methods.
They also include regular care and maintenance programs for planted areas and green spaces. The Housing Minister stressed the importance of continuing work according to an integrated vision for New Suez City that combines accelerating the implementation of infrastructure, housing, roads, and utility projects with maximizing the use of the city’s coastal potential and improving the urban landscape and quality of life.
This will strengthen the city’s role as a hub for urban and investment development and support the state’s plans for urban expansion and the development of modern and sustainable urban communities.
