Eng. Randa El Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, followed up on the progress of projects under the Presidential “Hayah Karima” (Decent Life) Initiative in the drinking water and wastewater sectors across a number of governorates.
Eng. Randa El Menshawy directed that periodic monitoring of the projects be intensified and that projects with high completion rates be finalized promptly, contributing to their entry into service, achieving the intended benefits, and improving the level of drinking water and wastewater services provided to citizens.
In this context, the housing minister received a report on the field follow-up conducted by officials of the National Organization for Potable Water and Sanitary Drainage to monitor implementation rates and accelerate the pace of work on the projects.
The report included a tour by Eng. Maj. Gen. Amin Shawky Adel, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Organization for Potable Water and Sanitary Drainage, and a number of organization officials to follow up on the Presidential “Hayah Karima” Initiative projects in Damietta Governorate.
The tour included the expansion of the Kafr Soliman El-Bahary Wastewater Treatment Plant, with a capacity of 10,000 m³/day; the Om El-Rizk Wastewater Treatment Plant, with a capacity of 10,000 m³/day; and the Kfoor El-Ghab Wastewater Treatment Plant, with a capacity of 10,000 m³/day. Implementation rates, adherence to timelines, and the quality of completed works were reviewed.
The follow-up in Gharbia Governorate also included an inspection of the expansion project at the Zefta Wastewater Treatment Plant, where emphasis was placed on compliance with technical standards and the prompt removal of any obstacles that could affect implementation rates.
In Sohag Governorate, the report included a tour by Eng. Ahmed Hassan Ibrahim, Head of the Executive Agency for Drinking Water and Wastewater Projects in the governorate, and a number of agency officials, to follow up on the Presidential Initiative projects.
The tour included the Oulad Yahia Qibli Lifting Station and the Main Mazata “Hayah Karima” Project, where the implementation status was reviewed, with emphasis on compliance with technical standards and the prompt completion of the works.
The report also included the results of a tour by Eng. Nageh Abdel Rahman, deputy head of the Central Administration for the Implementation of Upper Egypt Projects (Minya–Assiut), and a number of organization officials, to follow up on the Presidential Initiative projects in Assiut Governorate.
The tour included an inspection of the Al-Sawalem Al-Bahariya Village Wastewater Lifting Station in Abnoub District; the Al-Atiyat Al-Bahariya Wastewater Treatment Plant, with a capacity of 40,000 m³/day, serving 14 villages in Abnoub District; as well as the Al-Houta Al-Sharqia Wastewater Treatment Plant, with a capacity of 300 m³/day, serving Al-Houta Al-Sharqia Village in Dairut District.
The tour in Assiut Governorate also included follow-up of the Dashlout Wastewater Treatment Plant, with a capacity of 20,000 m³/day, serving 15 villages in Dairut District; Booster (1) Dashlout Lifting Station; the Awaga Wastewater Treatment Plant, with a capacity of 40,000 m³/day, serving 14 villages in Dairut District; and Booster (2) Awaga Lifting Station.
In Minya Governorate, a number of Presidential Initiative projects in the Dair Mawas District were followed up. These included the Al-Amariya Al-Sharqia Wastewater Treatment Plant, with a capacity of 5,500 m³/day using tertiary treatment, serving villages east of Dair Mawas; the Tal Bani Omran Wastewater Lifting Station; the expansion of the Tanouf Wastewater Treatment Plant, with a capacity of 40,000 m³/day; as well as the wastewater lifting stations serving the villages of Al-Nasriya and Al-Rahmania.
