Eng. Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, followed up on the latest developments in the implementation of several sewage projects being carried out by the National Organization for Potable Water and Sanitary Drainage as part of the presidential “Decent Life” initiative to develop the Egyptian countryside in the governorates of Damietta, Minya, and Fayoum.
The Housing Minister received a report on the results of inspection tours conducted by ministry and authority officials at several project sites across the three governorates. The tours aimed to assess implementation rates and follow up on the ongoing work on the ground.
Eng. Randa El-Menshawy directed officials to continue field follow-up throughout the various stages of project implementation, maintain ongoing coordination with the relevant authorities, and quickly address any obstacles that may hinder implementation.
This will help accelerate completion rates, ensure compliance with the specified schedules, enable the projects to enter service within the targeted timelines, and maximize their benefits for citizens.
The minister stressed that potable water and sewage projects are among the most important pillars of the presidential “Decent Life” initiative, given their direct impact on improving the level of services provided to citizens and enhancing quality of life in the targeted villages.
She emphasized the need to treat these projects as a development and service priority that directly affects citizens’ lives. Eng. Randa El-Menshawy also stressed the importance of adhering to the highest quality standards and technical specifications during the implementation of the works.
She called for strict monitoring throughout the various implementation stages and immediate action on any observations that could affect completion rates or the quality of the works. She affirmed that the goal is not limited to implementing the projects but also ensuring their efficiency, sustainability, and achievement of the targeted service benefits.
In Damietta Governorate, the Housing Minister followed up on the implementation of the Kafr El-Ghab sewage treatment plant project, with a capacity of 10/5,000 m³/day; the Om El-Rizq sewage treatment plant project, with a capacity of 10/5,000 m³/day; and the Kafr Suleiman El-Bahary sewage treatment plant project, with a capacity of 10/5,000 m³/day.
The importance of adhering to technical standards and specifications and quickly addressing any obstacles was emphasized. This will contribute to improving sewage services provided to citizens in the governorate and supporting the state’s efforts to achieve sustainable development.
In Minya Governorate, the Housing Minister reviewed the results of the field visit conducted by authority officials to the Baramsha sewage treatment plant, with a capacity of 30/20,000 m³/day, serving 13 villages in El-Adwa Center.
The visit also covered the gravity sewer networks in Baramsha village in El-Adwa Center, the sewage lifting station in Kafr El-Maghraby village in El-Adwa Center, the Kafr El-Maghraby sewage treatment plant, with a capacity of 15/10,000 m³/day, in El-Adwa Center, and the sewage lifting station in Sheikh Masoud village in El-Adwa Center.
In Fayoum Governorate, Eng. Randa El-Menshawy followed up on the progress of sewage projects at the Abu Dafya station and Al-Hamidiya village in Itsa Center. The follow-up focused on reviewing the implementation status and completion rates and examining the ongoing works.
It included monitoring the implementation of sewage networks, discussing the implementation status with site teams, and emphasizing the need to continue work in accordance with the approved plans and schedules.
At the conclusion of the follow-up, the Housing Minister stressed the importance of continued coordination and cooperation between the ministry and relevant authorities to accelerate implementation rates, shorten project schedules, complete the projects quickly, and bring them into service. This will help achieve the development targets of the presidential “Decent Life” initiative and maximize its benefits for citizens.
