Engineer Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, followed up on the implementation status of projects and services underway in the New Capital, as well as the ongoing efficiency improvement works in residential neighborhoods. This comes as part of continuous monitoring of project implementation rates and efforts to improve the level of services provided to citizens.
In this regard, the minister received a report covering the implementation status of several projects and services, along with the results of follow-up activities and communication with citizens in the New Capital.
The report included the results of Engineer Marwa Hussein, Head of the New Capital Development Authority, following up on progress rates across various components of the wastewater treatment plant. It also covered ongoing construction works and plans to complete the remaining phases. These efforts aim to accelerate implementation and complete the project according to the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
The report stressed the importance of continued coordination and cooperation between the New Capital Development Authority, the Administrative Capital for Urban Development Company, and all entities and companies working on the project. It also highlighted the need to quickly take the necessary decisions and measures to address any developments that could affect the implementation schedule.
The first phase of the wastewater treatment plant is being implemented with a design capacity of approximately 250,000 cubic meters per day. The plant aims to provide treated water for reuse in irrigating green spaces within the New Capital and neighboring cities. This supports the state’s efforts to rationalize water consumption, maximize the use of available water resources, and expand sustainable water management solutions.
The plant relies on an advanced tertiary treatment system. This ensures the production of treated water that meets approved specifications and standards. It also allows the water to be reused for its designated purposes. This strengthens the New Capital’s sustainable infrastructure system, supports the preservation of natural resources, and improves environmental services.
The report also covered the latest developments in landscaping works along various roads, internal axes, and residential neighborhoods. These works are part of the authority’s plan to improve the urban and aesthetic appearance of the New Capital and enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors.
The landscaping works include integrated programs to expand green spaces and plant trees, plants, and flowers. They also include pruning and trimming trees and improving existing landscaping. These efforts help enhance the visual appeal of different areas and give the city a distinctive urban character.
The works also include developing and landscaping central islands and roadside areas along internal roads and axes. They also cover completing site landscaping around buildings and residential areas, with priority given to densely populated areas, neighborhood entrances, and main and internal roads. This aims to integrate infrastructure development with improvements to the overall appearance of the surrounding areas.
In a related development, Engineer Randa El-Menshawy followed up on ongoing efficiency improvement works in the D2, D3, and D7 sectors of the third residential neighborhood, R3. The works are being carried out in preparation for their handover. The minister also reviewed implementation rates for the various works and ensured that all required elements would be completed according to the approved schedules.
As part of the field follow-up of residential projects underway in the New Capital, the Housing Minister reviewed ongoing works in Zone Z-09 in the fifth residential neighborhood, R5, “New Garden City.” She followed up on the implementation status, progress rates, and different stages of construction.
The minister directed that implementation rates be accelerated and that the number of workers and equipment at work sites be increased. She also stressed full compliance with the specified schedules and instructed that no delays in progress rates be allowed. This is intended to ensure that the works are completed and units are handed over to customers on the scheduled dates.
The report also included the results of a meeting between the Head of the New Capital Development Authority and residents and representatives of residents of the third residential neighborhood, R3, in the D1, D2, D7, and D8 areas.
The meeting was held in implementation of the Housing Minister’s directives to maintain continuous communication with residents, discuss various service-related issues, identify the challenges they face, and develop practical and rapid solutions to improve services and quality of life in the third residential neighborhood. This is in line with the state’s approach to creating smart and sustainable urban communities.
The meeting addressed several issues, including the construction of a fence around the third residential neighborhood and the completion of the surveillance camera system. It also emphasized strengthening oversight of markets, shops, and commercial activities within the neighborhood and ensuring their compliance with applicable requirements, rules, and regulations. This aims to protect residents’ rights and maintain order.
The meeting also discussed several proposals to improve the transportation system, particularly with the start of the new academic year approaching. These measures aim to meet residents’ needs and facilitate transportation within the neighborhood and surrounding areas.
The meeting also addressed several service-related issues, including completing the health office, nurseries, and medical center. These facilities will help provide essential services to residents, meet the needs of families living in the neighborhood, and create an integrated urban environment with basic services.
At the conclusion of the follow-up, Engineer Randa El-Menshawy emphasized that the ministry attaches great importance to continued detailed and field monitoring of projects underway in the New Capital. She stressed the need to accelerate progress and comply with approved schedules.
