Eng. Randa El Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, followed up on the implementation status of a number of projects and work files in Hadayek October and New 6th of October cities, as part of the periodic monitoring of national project implementation rates, improving the efficiency of basic infrastructure utilities, and enhancing the level of services provided to citizens.
The minister of housing reviewed the results of the field tour conducted by Eng. Yasser Abdel Halim, head of the Hadayek October City Development Authority, to monitor the actual operation of the 1,200 mm and 1,400 mm diameter wastewater connection pipeline project, following the completion of its implementation and commencement of operations.
The project serves the Al Karma area (263 feddans); Al Rayhan First Priority Housing area; Giza Governorate Housing; Al Narges (1) area, which includes 645 buildings under the “Sakan Misr” initiative; and Al Narges (2) area, which includes 309 buildings under the same project. The areas are connected to the wastewater lifting station in Rabwa October “Ebni Beitak 6,” enhancing the efficiency of the wastewater system and keeping pace with the city’s urban expansions.
The minister of housing also followed up on the results of works to improve the city’s entrance from the Central Ring Road, which included developing the central median, intensifying landscaping and maintenance of green spaces, maintaining sidewalks, and reviewing the public lighting system. She also followed up on intensive campaigns to remove encroachments and unauthorized occupations across various neighborhoods.
The campaigns resulted in removing unauthorized occupations along Zewail Road, addressing violations in Al Narges (1), and removing a case involving a change of activity in Zahret October—Seventh District “Ebni Beitak,” while beautification and maintenance works continue in Valera Gardens (219 buildings). In the same context, Eng. Randa El Menshawy followed up on the implementation status of the 810-building project under the presidential “Sakan Lekol El Masryeen” initiative in Hadayek October City.
The follow-up covered landscaping, roads, sidewalks, utility networks, agriculture, and green spaces, with an emphasis on completing the works quickly in accordance with the specified schedules, adhering to the highest quality standards and technical specifications, and handing over the units to applicants according to the scheduled dates. In New 6th of October City, the minister of housing received a report on a tour conducted by officials of the city authority at the site of the municipal solid waste treatment plant and sanitary landfill project.
The project includes infrastructure works, treatment lines, administrative and service buildings, and the sanitary landfill, with an emphasis on compliance with the implementation schedule and technical specifications, given the project’s importance in supporting the integrated waste management system and preserving the environment.
Eng. Randa El Menshawy also reviewed the implementation status of works for crossings beneath Al Wahat Road, extending 200 linear meters and using concrete pipes with a diameter of 3,400 mm, as part of the rehabilitation project for the wastewater lifting station in the “Ebni Beitak 6” area. The project aims to accommodate wastewater flows from 6th of October, Hadayek October, and New 6th of October cities, keeping pace with the rapid rates of urban growth.
A 1,400 mm-diameter force main, approximately 10 kilometers long, is also being implemented to increase the station’s capacity to 300,000 cubic meters per day. The pipeline has reached advanced implementation rates, with a total of 3.4 kilometers completed, while works on the crossings and project-related supplies continue.
