Eng. Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, conducted a field visit to New Obour City to follow up on the latest developments regarding the land regularization file for the added lands and infrastructure projects in the city, including Al-Amal, the Service Strip, and the former Al-Talae area.
The visit aimed to review the implementation status of infrastructure and road projects, accelerate completion rates, and finalize work plans across the city’s various areas. At the beginning of the visit, Eng. Randa El-Menshawy held an expanded meeting at the headquarters of the New Obour City Authority to review the implementation status of infrastructure projects, as well as the status of applications submitted for the regularization of land in the areas added to the city.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Walid Abbas, Deputy Minister of Housing for New Urban Communities; Eng. Ahmed Omran, Deputy Minister of Housing for Utilities; and a number of officials from the Ministry and the New Urban Communities Authority, along with the Head of the City Authority.
Eng. Randa El-Menshawy affirmed that the land regularization file for areas added to a number of new cities is a priority under the ministry’s plan to complete urban development efforts in these cities.
She stressed the need to complete infrastructure and road networks according to the highest standards of efficiency, contributing to preparing the land for use, supporting the stability of citizens benefiting from the regularization procedures, and enhancing development and investment opportunities in the new cities.
The Housing Minister also highlighted the importance of taking an integrated approach to basic infrastructure works across the various areas of New Obour City, stressing the need for continuous field follow-up and prompt action to address any challenges or obstacles. During the meeting, the Housing Minister reviewed a detailed presentation delivered by Eng. Mahmoud Mourad, Head of the New Obour City Development Authority.
The presentation covered the implementation status of infrastructure projects in the various neighborhoods, the completion rates achieved, and the works that had been completed, in addition to the current status of ongoing works, timelines, and future plans for completing infrastructure and road works, with the goal of finalizing infrastructure works according to the specified schedules.
The presentation included implementation rates for infrastructure projects. Infrastructure works have been completed for 9,438 land plots, while infrastructure works are currently underway for approximately 23,000 additional land plots, with completion targeted successively according to the specified schedules.
The Head of the New Obour City Authority explained that a total of 49 infrastructure projects are currently under implementation, with total investments estimated at approximately EGP 10 billion.
These projects include drinking water, wastewater, roads, and electricity networks. In addition, 31 new projects are being prepared for tender, with total investments reaching approximately EGP 9 billion, as part of an integrated plan to complete infrastructure works and enhance the readiness of the land for urban development.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Eng. Randa El-Menshawy emphasized the importance of accelerating work in the added areas and maintaining continuous coordination among all relevant authorities and sectors. This will ensure the rapid completion of infrastructure works, improve the efficiency of road and service networks, and pave the way for utilizing the land and achieving the city’s targeted development objectives.
