Eng. Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, followed up on the executive status of a number of housing, service, and utility projects in New Minya, New Fayoum, New Assiut, New Beni Suef, and New Qena. The follow-up comes as part of the ministry’s efforts to accelerate completion rates and improve the level of services provided to citizens.
The minister of housing stressed the importance of continuing field follow-up of projects in new cities, working to remove any obstacles facing implementation, while intensifying oversight and preserving the urban appearance of these new urban communities.
New Minya Projects
The follow-up in New Minya City included housing projects under the Presidential Initiative “Housing for All Egyptians” and the Green Housing Project, where the implementation stages of the housing projects and their associated utility works were inspected.
The works included following up on housing projects being implemented in the fifth and sixth phases, with emphasis on the speedy completion of drinking water and wastewater networks and connecting the residential buildings to them.
The follow-up also covered the project of 71 residential buildings in the sixth phase, as well as landscaping works, internal roads, and preparations for handing over the housing units to citizens.
The follow-up also included the utility works for the 310-feddan project, which serves the eighth, ninth, and tenth phases of the “Beit Al Watan” initiative, comprising a total of 343 land plots. This was in addition to the utility and road formation project for the 150-feddan area, as well as the site of the proposed wastewater treatment plant to serve the 150- and 310-feddan areas.
As part of efforts to maintain order, the city carried out evening campaigns to address encroachments and illegal connections in a number of districts, with legal action taken against violators.
Developing Services in New Qena
In New Qena City, the ministry followed up on the implementation of 103 residential buildings in the Eastern Expansions area under the Presidential Initiative “Housing for All Egyptians” to assess completion rates and implementation stages.
The follow-up also covered the New Qena Hospital project, with a capacity of 175 beds, where the final preparation works were reviewed. These included the various departments, vital facilities, central laundry, main kitchen, elevators, entrances, and emergency and ambulance areas, in preparation for completing the procedures required for operation and inauguration.
Monitoring and Services in New Assiut
The New Assiut City Authority continued its inspection campaigns to follow up on operating licenses for shops and commercial activities, resulting in the implementation of closure and sealing decisions for violating shops.
Campaigns were also carried out to inspect drinking water connections in the Future Extension and Distinguished Housing areas, where illegal connections were detected and the necessary measures were taken against them.
Improving the Urban Appearance
In New Beni Suef, officials of the City Authority followed up on planting and landscaping works, maintenance of green spaces, and the upgrading of entrances, squares, and main corridors. They also monitored cleaning and waste removal in a number of areas, including the Light Industries Island, the “Ebni Beitak” area, and the First and Second Districts.
Meanwhile, in New Fayoum, a new phase has begun to upgrade the city’s cleaning system following the completion of contracting procedures with a specialized company. The new phase includes intensifying waste collection, cleaning streets and squares, and continuously addressing any field observations.
