Housing Minister Directs Intensified Field Follow-Up of “Hayah Karima” Projects

Eng. Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, reviewed the implementation status of drinking water and wastewater projects under the presidential “Hayah Karima” initiative to develop rural villages in the governorates of Minya, Assiut, and Fayoum.

The projects are being implemented through the National Authority for Potable Water and Sanitary Drainage as part of the periodic follow-up program to monitor project progress, review implementation rates, and promptly overcome any obstacles facing the works.

The Minister of Housing stressed the importance of intensifying field follow-up of the projects and overcoming any obstacles to expedite the completion of the remaining works on projects with high implementation rates, allowing them to enter service and deliver benefits to residents in the targeted villages and areas across the Egyptian countryside.

In this context, Eng. Randa El-Menshawy reviewed a report on the implementation status of several projects under the initiative. The report covered a field tour conducted by Eng. Abdel Salam Barakat, Head of the Central Administration for the Implementation of Upper Egypt Projects at the Authority, to inspect “Hayah Karima” projects in Fayoum Governorate, accompanied by Eng. Ruby Mahmoud El-Sayed, Head of the Executive Body for Drinking Water and Wastewater Projects in Fayoum Governorate.

The tour included inspections of the El-Wanaisa Village lifting station, El-Husseiniya Village lifting station, and Sabry Village lifting station, with emphasis placed on the importance of complying with technical standards and promptly overcoming obstacles.

The minister also followed up on the status of the wastewater project in Abu Latiya Village in the Youssef El-Seddik district, where a meeting was held with village residents to discuss one of the challenges that had affected the completion of the works. The issue was addressed through coordination and agreement with the residents, allowing work to continue and implementation rates to progress.

In Minya Governorate, Eng. Nageh Abdel Rahman, Deputy Head of the Central Administration for the Implementation of North Upper Egypt Projects for Minya and Assiut at the Authority, along with several Authority officials, conducted field tours to follow up on a number of initiative projects in the governorate.

The tour in Minya Governorate included an inspection of the expansion project for the Mallawi Wastewater Treatment Plant, with a capacity of 20,000/40,000 cubic meters per day, serving six villages in the Mallawi district and one village in the Deir Mawas district. It also included the El-Baragil Village wastewater lifting station in Mallawi, the El-Ashmunein Village wastewater lifting station in Mallawi, and the Qalba Village wastewater lifting station in Mallawi.

Follow-up activities in Minya Governorate also included reviewing the implementation status of the Barmasha Treatment Plant in the El-Adwa district, with a capacity of 20/30 thousand cubic meters per day, as well as the El-Gehad wastewater lifting station, the El-Aqdam wastewater lifting station, and the El-Aqliya Village wastewater lifting station in the El-Adwa district.

The Minister of Housing also followed up on the implementation status of the Delga Treatment Plant project, with a capacity of 15,000 cubic meters per day, in the Deir Mawas district. During the tours, emphasis was placed on the importance of complying with technical standards and promptly overcoming obstacles, contributing to improving the level of services provided to citizens and supporting sustainable development plans.

In Assiut Governorate, the report included the results of a tour conducted by Eng. Nageh Fathy to inspect projects under the presidential “Hayah Karima” initiative, accompanied by Eng. Saber Abdel Raouf, Head of the Executive Body in the governorate.

The tour included an inspection of the El-Atiyat Treatment Plant, with a capacity of 40/60 thousand cubic meters per day, in addition to the Deir El-Gabrawi lifting station, the El-Awamer substation, and the El-Awamer main lifting station.

In conclusion, Eng. Randa El-Menshawy highlighted the importance of continuous coordination among the concerned authorities and implementing bodies and the prompt handling of any challenges that may affect the progress of work, while adhering to the highest quality standards and technical specifications.

She emphasized that drinking water and wastewater projects represent one of the most important pillars for improving the quality of life for residents and supporting the state’s efforts to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development in the targeted villages.
