Eng. Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, participated in the launch event of the investment zone for the Alam El Roum project, organized by Qatari Diar.

The event was attended by Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade; Dr. Walid Abbas, Deputy Minister of Housing for New Urban Communities; Dr. Yasser Sobhi, Deputy Minister of Finance for Fiscal Policies; Counselor Sherif El-Shazly, Head of the Prime Minister’s Advisory Board; Dr. Mohamed Awad, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones; and Eng. Taleb Al Adhab, Vice Chairman of Qatari Diar Egypt.

At the beginning of her speech, the minister of housing welcomed the participants. She noted that the event represents a new step toward developing one of the major investment projects on the northwestern coast: Alam El Roum. She emphasized that the project reflects Egypt’s serious commitment to strengthening partnerships with the private sector and attracting Arab and foreign investment.

This approach stems from the belief that urban development is no longer limited to building new cities and communities. Instead, it has become an integrated system aimed at maximizing the use of the country’s resources and potential while creating economic and investment opportunities that support sustainable development.

She explained that the Alam El Roum project represents an important opportunity to turn this vision into reality. It will establish an integrated development project that maximizes the area’s natural, tourism, and investment potential. It will also support the state’s efforts to diversify the economic base and expand urban development beyond the Nile Valley and Delta.

In her speech, the Minister of Housing discussed Egypt’s vision for developing the northwestern coast, describing it as a key area for urban expansion and investment. The region benefits from distinctive natural and geographical features, while its location offers promising opportunities to develop tourism, real estate, and service activities. It also provides opportunities to establish modern urban communities capable of attracting investment and creating jobs.

She pointed out that this approach is not based on urban expansion alone. Rather, it reflects a broader vision aimed at redistributing development and investment, creating new economic centers, and strengthening integration between tourism, real estate, and service activities. This approach will generate added value for the national economy and support the state’s comprehensive development objectives.

The minister explained that the Alam El Roum project is one of the developments expected to advance growth along the northwestern coast. It will capitalize on the area’s promising potential and develop it according to an integrated urban and investment vision. This vision seeks to balance economic returns with the preservation of natural and environmental resources while creating an attractive environment for local and foreign investment.

In this regard, Eng. Randa El-Menshawy stressed that the Egyptian government is committed to supporting the project and completing the necessary implementation steps. The state will work to establish the conditions needed to achieve its development and investment objectives through coordination and cooperation among the relevant authorities and Qatari Diar. This will ensure that the planning vision aligns with implementation requirements and that the project’s opportunities are utilized as effectively as possible.

She noted that launching the project’s investment zone represents an important step in developing its investment components and strengthening its ability to attract capital. It will also open the door to diverse activities that stimulate economic activity, expand investor participation, create direct and indirect job opportunities, and support tourism, services, and real estate development.

She emphasized that the success of major projects is measured not only by the volume of investment they attract but also by their ability to generate a genuine development impact, create employment opportunities, contribute productive and service activities to the national economy, and help build integrated urban communities with sustainable, long-term foundations.

In conclusion, Eng. Randa El-Menshawy affirmed that the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities will continue coordinating with the relevant authorities to support urban development and investment, strengthen partnerships with the private sector, and accelerate the implementation of major projects to achieve their objectives.

She expressed her hope that the event would mark a successful start toward completing the next stages of the Alam El Roum project and achieving its investment and development goals. She added that the project reflects the depth of Egyptian-Qatari relations and opens broader horizons for economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.
