A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Abdel Khaleq Ibrahim, Assistant Minister of Housing, to discuss the Ministry of Housing’s readiness to launch the National Strategy for Smart New Cities. This strategy was previously announced during the inauguration of the World Urban Forum held in Egypt. The objective of the meeting was to coordinate with various ministries and international partners, such as the World Bank Group, to address the challenges of urban expansion and population growth, and to enhance quality of life through innovative solutions in new cities.

The strategy is built upon seven key developmental sectors: urban services, utilities, smart mobility, smart economy, environment, e-governance, and digitalization. Proposed applications include smart monitoring systems for water and electricity quality, the promotion of non-motorized transportation, and the development of digital platforms to improve public services. Additionally, the strategy aims to attract private sector investment in the knowledge economy and develop policies for research and development. It also includes the implementation of smart waste management systems. These interventions seek to transform cities into resilient, economically inclusive hubs with a strong focus on innovation and digital capabilities.
