Housing Minister Aims to Expand Egypt’s Inhabited Land to 18%

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, announced a strategic plan to increase the nation’s inhabited land area to 18% in the coming years. Speaking at the Senate Housing Committee meeting, El-Sherbiny highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to expanding Egypt’s livable space to accommodate population growth and enhance urban development.

El-Sherbiny emphasized the importance of accelerating work on the “Hayah Karima” (Decent Life) initiative, a large-scale national project aimed at improving living standards in rural areas. “Our goal is to create tangible results on the ground,” he stated, underscoring the Ministry’s plan to complete the project’s second phase within the next three years.

The Minister also noted recent developments in the northwestern coastal region, where ongoing efforts have transformed it into an attractive destination for international visitors. “We’re seeing visitors from over 105 countries coming to the northwestern coast, a testament to the region’s remarkable growth,” El-Sherbiny added, suggesting that new incentives are in place to further stimulate investment and development in the area.
