Engineer Ashraf Fathi Mahmoud, Head of the New Damietta City Authority, met with representatives from Arab Contractors and other companies involved in infrastructure and road projects in the city. The meeting, attended by officials from the Authority, aimed to review progress, address challenges, and ensure compliance with project specifications and timelines. This initiative aligns with the directives of Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, for regular follow-ups on national projects in new cities.
During the meeting, the status of ongoing expansions for the water treatment plant and the city’s main sewer line, executed by Arab Contractors, was discussed. The focus was on adhering to engineering standards and meeting the project schedule.
Engineer Mahmoud emphasized the importance of collaboration between the supervisory teams and contractors to ensure the highest quality standards are met. He highlighted the strategic significance of the water treatment plant’s operational capacity in supporting current and future investments in the city.
He also urged companies working on road projects to expedite their progress, establish clear timelines, and ensure adherence to quality standards to complete ongoing projects efficiently.
In addition, Engineer Mahmoud inspected development works at key city locations, including roads and entrances to the General Investment Free Zone and the partition wall with Damietta Port. He noted the completion of renovations at the customs and civil protection buildings in the area.
He called for intensified efforts in landscaping, beautification, and cleanliness to enhance the aesthetic appeal of this vital investment hub.
Finally, the Head of the Authority reviewed ongoing beautification projects at city squares, such as the landscaping of Engineer Hasaballah Al-Kafrawi Square. He directed the teams to accelerate maintenance work on decorative light poles and increase greenery at all squares, reinforcing the city’s commitment to aesthetic and functional urban development.
