Engineer Ahmed Mahmoud Hassan, Head of the New Assiut City Development Authority, confirmed that comprehensive development and maintenance works are continuing in the southeast expansion area, particularly within the Social Housing residential district (226 feddans), as part of the authority’s plan to enhance the city’s urban appearance and upgrade its infrastructure.
The efforts are being carried out in line with the directives of Engineer Randa El Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, to continue improving roads, utilities, and public services while enhancing residents’ quality of life.
The head of the authority explained that development works are ongoing on the main road separating the distinguished housing land plots area (230 feddans) from the social housing residential buildings area (226 feddans). The work includes installing curbstones, road grading, and laying gravel sub-base in preparation for asphalt paving, contributing to smoother traffic flow and the continued development of the area’s road network.
He also noted that the authority continues maintenance and upgrading works within the Social Housing residential district, including the installation of curbstones, maintenance of landscaped green areas, adjustment of sewer manhole levels, installation of the required manhole covers, and cleaning of sewer chambers and stormwater drainage inlets to ensure the efficiency of utility networks and the sustainable delivery of services. Regarding the electricity and public lighting sector, Engineer Ahmed Mahmoud Hassan stated that periodic maintenance and efficiency enhancement works have been carried out.
These include repairing faults in all lighting poles, inspecting and correcting tilted poles, repainting those in need of maintenance, inspecting and repairing the doors of lighting poles and electrical kiosks while replacing damaged components, checking cable chamber covers and junction boxes, inspecting lighting fixtures to ensure they are functioning properly and correctly aligned, and conducting nighttime operational tests to verify the efficiency of the lighting system. The works also include removing any exposed cables or electrical connections and addressing all potential safety hazards to protect residents.
Engineer Ahmed Mahmoud Hassan, Head of the New Assiut City Development Authority, emphasized that the authority will continue implementing development, maintenance, and field inspection plans across all areas of the city while intensifying efforts to upgrade infrastructure and improve public services, creating a modern, safe, and well-maintained urban environment worthy of the residents of New Assiut City.
