The meeting was held in line with the directives of Engineer Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, and as part of the state’s efforts to promote digital transformation and enhance technological infrastructure in new cities.
The city authority explained that the meeting was attended by communications department directors from NUCA and the concerned city authorities, along with heads of regional sectors, planning and implementation departments, and representatives of Telecom Egypt.
Discussions focused on the implementation progress of telecommunications projects in Hadayek, 6th of October; Sheikh Zayed; and New October cities, reviewing current completion rates and mechanisms to accelerate work during the coming phase.
During the meeting, Engineer Amal Lotfy, Deputy Head of the Hadayek October City Authority for Electricity and Communications, presented the implementation status of the ongoing projects.
The discussion also addressed areas that have not yet received full telecommunications services, in addition to reviewing the challenges that may affect implementation rates and developing practical solutions to strengthen coordination among the various entities to ensure the timely achievement of project targets.
The meeting also reviewed the plan to replace and modernize copper networks with advanced fiber-optic networks as part of the strategy to upgrade the telecommunications system and improve digital infrastructure efficiency.
Participants discussed implementation mechanisms in accordance with the latest international technical standards, contributing to improved telecommunications service quality, higher internet speeds, and the provision of advanced infrastructure capable of supporting the rapid pace of urban expansion.
The Head of the Hadayek October City Development Authority stressed the importance of adhering to approved technical specifications and accelerating implementation rates to ensure that all works are completed according to the scheduled timelines. He emphasized that these efforts support sustainable development plans and enhance the readiness of new cities to accommodate growing population and service demands.
For his part, Engineer Yasser Abdel Halim, Head of the Hadayek October City Development Authority, affirmed that hosting this meeting reflects the authority’s commitment to supporting the state’s efforts to develop digital infrastructure and strengthen telecommunications services in new cities.
He noted that the current stage requires intensified cooperation and coordination among all concerned entities to ensure rapid implementation while achieving the highest standards of quality and efficiency. He added that the city authority continues to provide full support to executing companies and the relevant authorities while working to eliminate any obstacles that could affect project progress.
These efforts contribute to delivering advanced telecommunications services that keep pace with digital transformation requirements, meet citizens’ needs, and support the comprehensive development plans currently underway across Egypt’s new-generation cities.
