President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss the outcomes of the virtual summit held on September 15 at Macron’s invitation. The call addressed regional developments, particularly the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip and its aggression against the State of Qatar.
According to Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson for the Presidency, President El-Sisi expressed his appreciation for the French President’s initiative to convene the summit, which aimed to explore ways to ease regional tensions and contain the escalation.
The spokesperson further noted that the discussion also covered the ongoing preparations for the “Two-State Solution” conference, scheduled to be held on September 22 on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Both sides emphasized the importance of the conference as a significant step toward recognizing the State of Palestine and establishing an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
In this context, President El-Sisi welcomed France’s announcement of its intention to recognize the State of Palestine, considering this move a positive step toward achieving comprehensive and just peace in the Middle East. He also called on other countries that have not yet recognized Palestine to take similar measures to support efforts to end the conflict and ensure stability.
Additionally, Ambassador El-Shenawy confirmed that President El-Sisi briefed his French counterpart on the key outcomes of the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit held in Doha. The summit focused on regional developments and on supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
