Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and New Urban Communities, along with Major General Hisham Abu Al-Nasr, Governor of Assiut, began an inspection tour in Assiut Governorate, which included a meeting at the headquarters of the New Nasser City Development Authority “West Assiut”—one of the fourth-generation cities. The meeting aimed to follow up on the workflow and areas of mutual cooperation related to the new cities. A number of officials from the ministry, the New Urban Communities Authority, and the governorate attended the meeting.
Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny began the meeting by expressing his gratitude to the Governor of Assiut for supporting development projects in the new cities within the governorate, praising the fruitful cooperation between the Ministry of Housing and the governorate. He affirmed that his visit aims to monitor the ongoing projects implemented by the ministry in the governorate through its various bodies, such as the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater, the National Authority for Drinking Water and Wastewater, in addition to the New Urban Communities Authority through New Nasser City and New Assiut City.
For his part, the Governor of Assiut welcomed the minister’s visit, noting that it comes within the framework of continuous follow-up to accelerate the implementation of development and service projects in the fourth-generation cities, especially New Nasser and New Assiut. He noted that reviewing implementation details aims to drive the pace of progress and achieve integration of infrastructure and services.
The Minister of Housing directed that the available land status in New Nasser City be reviewed, and that vacant plots be offered to investors to establish development projects. He stressed the importance of improving the visual identity of the city by developing its gates and entrances and upgrading the efficiency of the road linking the airport to the city.
The meeting also discussed the ongoing projects in New Assiut City during the current fiscal year, which include the sectors of drinking water, wastewater, roads, communications, and housing, with an estimated cost of about 529.157 million Egyptian pounds. The status of maintenance works to develop the road network, main axes, and service and investment projects in the city was evaluated.
The minister and governor also reviewed the implementation status of projects under construction in New Assiut and the investment opportunities available there, along with future plans related to asset utilization and development. The total volume of investments in the city reached approximately 5.9 billion Egyptian pounds distributed across various sectors. In this context, the minister stressed the need to maximize the benefit from the available assets and invest in promising opportunities to boost revenues amid the growing demand for these projects.
Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny concluded the meeting by directing special attention to maintenance works and the development of roads, axes, and squares in New Assiut City to ensure improved quality of services provided to residents and enhance the city’s appeal as an investment destination.
