Engineer Randa El Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, reviewed a report on the outcomes of field inspection tours conducted by officials from the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) to monitor the progress of housing and infrastructure projects in New Assiut, New Sohag, New Minya, and New Mallawi cities.
The inspections were carried out in line with her directives for continuous monitoring of national projects, evaluating implementation rates, accelerating work, and ensuring adherence to approved timelines and technical specifications.
The Minister of Housing emphasized that continuous field inspections are among the most effective tools for improving implementation efficiency and addressing any obstacles immediately. She noted that this approach helps accelerate the completion of national projects, particularly in Upper Egypt’s new cities, while supporting the development of integrated urban communities that align with the country’s sustainable development goals.
According to the report, Engineer Ahmed Ali, Deputy Chairman of the New Urban Communities Authority for Utilities, conducted an inspection tour in New Assiut City, accompanied by Engineer Ahmed Mahmoud Hassan, Head of the New Assiut City Development Authority, and several NUCA officials.
During the visit, they reviewed the implementation status of drinking water, wastewater, natural gas, and road projects. Instructions were issued to expedite the completion of the city’s main 315 mm natural gas supply pipeline while maximizing the use of treated wastewater for irrigating green spaces.
The delegation also inspected road development works, major transportation corridors, and infrastructure projects in the 1,304-feddan northwest expansion area. The works include completing utility networks in the Third Neighborhood, covering 446 land plots, as well as 237 plots under the Beit Al Watan project.
The inspection also covered infrastructure works for 276 distinguished housing plots and 690 middle-income housing plots, in addition to visits to several drinking water and wastewater treatment facilities. Officials stressed the importance of maintaining approved timelines and increasing implementation rates.
The report added that Engineer Ahmed Ali continued his inspection tours in New Sohag City, accompanied by several NUCA officials and Engineer Ayman Rashad, Head of the City Development Authority.
The visit included reviewing the implementation status of utility projects, followed by inspections of the city’s drinking water plant, which has a first-phase production capacity of 35,000 cubic meters per day, and the tertiary wastewater treatment plant, designed to process 36,000 cubic meters per day, with its first phase currently operating at 12,000 cubic meters per day.
The delegation also inspected road construction works in the 455-feddan development area and directed officials to intensify field monitoring while ensuring full compliance with approved technical specifications and implementation schedules.
The report also highlighted a field tour conducted by Engineer Ammar Mandour, Deputy Chairman of the New Urban Communities Authority for Development and Construction, who visited the New Minya and New Mallawi cities accompanied by several NUCA officials.
The tour began in New Minya City in the presence of Engineer Mohamed El Ezzouni, head of the City Development Authority, where they monitored the progress of the third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh phases of the Social Housing Project.
They also inspected the Dyarna project, which includes 21 residential buildings comprising 546 housing units, the Green Housing Project with 64 residential buildings, and the UAE Grant Housing Project. Directives were issued to accelerate construction, complete landscaping and beautification works, upgrade roads and green areas, and prepare the projects for the handover of housing units to beneficiaries.
According to the report, the tour also included New Mallawi City, where Engineer Khaled Ahmed Sorour, head of the New El Fashn and New Mallawi City Development Authority, along with several city officials, received the delegation.
Officials reviewed the Housing for All Egyptians middle-income housing project, which consists of seven fully finished residential buildings currently being handed over to beneficiaries. They also inspected the Janna Housing Project, comprising 32 residential buildings, in addition to reviewing site landscaping works.
The delegation emphasized the need to accelerate implementation, maintain close supervision of executing companies, and ensure compliance with approved technical specifications and project schedules.
In conclusion, El Menshawy directed officials to continue regular field inspection tours across all new cities, closely monitor implementation progress, and strengthen coordination among the ministry’s sectors, the New Urban Communities Authority, and city development authorities.
She stressed that these efforts are essential to ensuring the timely completion of projects according to the highest quality standards while supporting the state’s strategy to develop Upper Egypt’s new cities and provide integrated services and infrastructure for citizens.
