Eng. Sherif El-Sherbiny, Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, hosted Saudi Arabia’s Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf, Mayor of Riyadh, and his accompanying delegation for a tour of the Egyptian pavilion at the World Urban Forum’s exhibition. The visit took place on the forum’s second day, during the 12th edition of this international event held in Cairo.
Minister El-Sherbiny welcomed Prince Faisal and the Saudi delegation to Egypt, their “second home,” and expressed appreciation for their participation in the forum. He highlighted the strong, longstanding relationship between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, affirming Egypt’s openness to sharing its extensive expertise in urban development with its Saudi counterparts.
Minister El-Sherbiny outlined Egypt’s diverse urban development experience, which spans the creation and expansion of numerous fourth-generation smart, sustainable cities, including the New Administrative Capital and New Alamein. He also noted Egypt’s advancements in water and wastewater infrastructure, the provision of hundreds of thousands of housing units across various socioeconomic segments, and the redevelopment of informal settlements with alternative housing solutions for residents.
Prince Faisal expressed admiration for Egypt’s pioneering urban development model, describing it as a global benchmark that has elevated quality of life across its cities. He commended Egypt’s holistic approach to urban planning, which has achieved impressive results across various sectors.
