Egyptian Housing Minister Explores Opportunities for Localizing Pump Manufacturing During Visit to Turkey

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbini, Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, visited the “Turbosan” pump manufacturing plant in Turkey as part of his ongoing efforts to explore modern technologies used in pump production. The visit aimed to assess the feasibility of transferring and localizing pump manufacturing for water and wastewater projects in Egypt. The Minister was accompanied by Dr. Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister, Engineer Ahmed Abdelkader, Head of the Executive Authority for Potable Water and Sanitation, and Engineer Mohamed Nabil, CEO of Al-Badr Construction Company.

During discussions with Turbosan officials, Minister El-Sherbini reviewed the factory’s quality control mechanisms, the range of tests performed on the pumps, its production capacity, and after-sales services. He emphasized that the visit is aligned with the directives of Egypt’s political leadership and the Prime Minister’s instructions to support local manufacturing. The goal is to localize industries related to water and sanitation projects while fostering cooperation between Egypt and Turkey in promoting investment, trade, and industrial exchange.

The CEO of Turbosan and the company officials provided an overview of the factory’s production capabilities, including its advanced technological facilities for manufacturing various types of pumps, such as submersible, horizontal, vertical, split-case, and high-pressure pumps. They expressed their commitment to deepening relationships with Egyptian partners and readiness to transfer technology to Egypt, expanding local production and eventually extending operations throughout the Middle East and North Africa from Egypt.

Minister El-Sherbini and his delegation toured the factory’s production stages and discussed the specific needs for expanding local manufacturing, ensuring adherence to quality control methods, and speeding up the production process. He praised the factory’s quality standards and engaged with officials on the testing protocols used to ensure product efficiency. The Minister also highlighted the importance of continuous monitoring and after-sales support to guarantee the sustainability of operations and adherence to standard maintenance practices.

The Minister concluded the visit by stressing the critical need for the availability of spare parts for all pumps manufactured at the plant, ensuring long-term product sustainability. He emphasized the importance of after-sales services and the training of engineers and technicians responsible for operations and maintenance to ensure the longevity of the equipment.
