Egyptian Housing Minister and Cairo Governor Discuss Progress on Historic Cairo Revitalization Projects

Today, Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, met with Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber on the sidelines of the 12th World Urban Forum’s third day. The meeting focused on monitoring the status of ongoing historic Cairo revitalization initiatives and other development projects led by the Ministry of Housing in Cairo.

Minister El-Sherbiny emphasized that, under the directives of Egypt’s leadership, the Ministry of Housing—alongside the Cairo Governorate and the Urban Development Fund—has undertaken several development projects to restore historic Cairo and address unplanned, unsafe areas. Among these efforts is the Maspero Triangle development, along with various restoration projects in Khedival Cairo. These initiatives are part of Egypt’s strategic plan to preserve the historical, cultural, and civilizational significance of the capital. The Ministry is committed to fully supporting Cairo’s projects to ensure progress.

Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber affirmed that the governorate and its executive bodies are closely collaborating with the Ministry of Housing to carry out development projects that serve Cairo’s residents. This partnership aims to enhance quality of life and strengthen the capital’s cultural and historical infrastructure for future generations.
