Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, met with representatives of a German company specializing in drinking water and wastewater treatment to discuss potential areas of cooperation. Representatives from the ministry, the New Urban Communities Authority, and the Executive Agency for Drinking Water and Wastewater attended the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny welcomed the company’s officials, expressing his willingness to collaborate in industrial development and technical capacity building within the drinking water and wastewater sector. He also highlighted opportunities for cooperation in maintenance workshops, equipment recycling, and reusability.

During the meeting, the Minister of Housing emphasized that the Egyptian government is currently focused on localizing the manufacturing of national project components, including those used in drinking water and wastewater treatment plants. This strategic direction provides a significant opportunity for the company to operate effectively in this sector.

Company representatives presented their projects in Egypt, including drinking water and wastewater treatment plants, where they were responsible for executing electromechanical works. Discussions also covered the possibility of manufacturing plant components locally and exploring cooperation in managing and operating these plants under a public-private partnership (PPP) model.

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny reaffirmed the presence of multiple partnerships between the Ministry of Housing and the private sector, emphasizing the government’s commitment to expanding such collaborations.
