Cairo – Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Sherif El-Sherbiny, discussed opportunities for localizing pump manufacturing during a visit to the Turbosan pump factory in Turkey. El-Sherbiny met with Sadat Oglu, Chairman of the Board at Turbosan, exploring the possibility of establishing a factory in Egypt to support water and wastewater projects, highlighting Egypt’s focus on fostering partnerships with specialized Turkish industries.
During the discussions, El-Sherbiny emphasized Egypt’s interest in increasing collaboration with Turbosan to establish a production facility for all types of pumps. Sadat Oglu expressed the company’s desire to strengthen industrial and commercial ties between Turkey and Egypt and their intention to partner with local companies to exchange expertise and boost cooperation in pump manufacturing.
Turbosan representatives provided an overview of the company’s history, global branches, and extensive production capabilities. The company manufactures various pumps used in water treatment, desalination plants, chemical injection systems, and sludge management in wastewater treatment facilities. They also showcased their latest technological advancements and engineering designs used in pump production.
El-Sherbiny discussed with the company’s representatives the potential for cooperation with Egyptian manufacturers, leveraging local expertise and adhering to Egypt’s specifications. He emphasized the importance of understanding the needs of the Egyptian market and neighboring regions while addressing challenges that may arise from the company’s expansion into Egypt.
Deputy Minister of Housing, Sayed Ismail, noted the steps taken by the ministry, in collaboration with various agencies, to update technical specifications and standardize the equipment required for project implementation. The ministry has also assessed the needs for electromechanical equipment over the next five years, facilitating the localization of these industries.
The meeting concluded with El-Sherbiny expressing gratitude for Turbosan’s interest in investing in Egypt and contributing to the local market. He highlighted the importance of non-traditional efforts to promote local industry and the opportunities available for private sector companies to thrive due to Egypt’s rapid developmental progress.
