Egypt and the United Kingdom are working to strengthen investment cooperation in the real estate sector through efforts to develop a partnership framework between the private sectors of both countries under a governmental umbrella.

This framework is expected to open new business opportunities and support the development of joint projects, with the potential inclusion of additional partners and investors from other countries to participate in promising investment opportunities within the Egyptian market.

These developments come in the context of discussions held during the “Egypt Future: Investment Opportunities and Sustainable Economic Reform” conference, organized by the Egyptian British Business Association in London from June 3 to 5, with the participation of ministers, government officials, investors, and business leaders from both Egypt and the United Kingdom.

Representatives of the private sector from both countries discussed mechanisms to establish a long-term cooperation platform designed to facilitate real estate investment flows and strengthen partnerships between Egyptian and British companies. The discussions also reached a preliminary agreement on the importance of working toward a private-sector partnership arrangement between the two countries.

This agreement would allow British companies to expand their presence in the Egyptian market and take advantage of significant opportunities in real estate development and infrastructure, while also enabling Egyptian companies to build strategic partnerships with British counterparts and benefit from their expertise in urban planning, real estate financing, and asset management.

Calls for a Joint Government Initiative to Support British Entry into the Egyptian Real Estate Market

Participants called on Engineer Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, to consider adopting this approach and presenting it on the Egyptian government’s agenda in order to establish an institutional framework that supports expanded investment cooperation in the real estate sector.

They also urged the British Ambassador to Egypt to communicate this vision to the UK government and work toward securing support from London, helping to create a more attractive investment environment for both sides.

Participants emphasized that the establishment of a government-supported cooperation framework in both countries would enhance investor confidence and encourage greater British participation in the Egyptian market, particularly given Egypt’s ongoing urban expansion, infrastructure development, and new cities that present diverse long-term investment opportunities.

The discussions further examined the possibility of attracting British companies specializing in urban development, engineering consultancy, real estate financing, and project management in order to benefit from their accumulated expertise and transfer modern knowledge and technology to the Egyptian market. This would contribute to advancing urban development goals and improving the efficiency of major real estate projects.

Initiative Aims to Expand Cooperation Between Egyptian and British Companies in Development and Infrastructure

Participants noted that Egyptian-British relations are experiencing growing momentum amid efforts to elevate bilateral ties to the level of a strategic partnership. They emphasized that the real estate sector could become one of the key pillars of economic cooperation in the coming period.

The Egyptian British Business Association is organizing a major conference in London focused on the readiness of the Egyptian economy to attract investment across various sectors, under the slogan “Egypt Forward: Investment Opportunities and Sustainable Economic Reform,” aiming to promote investment opportunities in Egypt and highlight ongoing economic reform efforts.

The conference is attended by a high-level government delegation, including Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Finance; Engineer Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities; and Rami Aboul Naga, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt.

The event also brings together leading investors, business executives, policymakers, government officials, and heads of financial and investment institutions from both Egypt and the United Kingdom as part of efforts to strengthen economic cooperation and promote promising investment opportunities in the Egyptian economy.

The event includes a series of meetings and panel discussions aimed at enhancing trade relations between the two countries and encouraging the establishment of new investment partnerships across key economic sectors.
