Engineer Ahmed Omran, Deputy Minister of Housing for Utilities, conducted a field tour of several drinking water and wastewater projects in Motobas Center, Kafr El Sheikh Governorate.
He was accompanied by Major General Amin Shawky, Chairman of the National Organization for Potable Water and Sanitary Drainage (NOPWASD); Engineer Mostafa El Shimy, Chairman of the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater (HCWW); Dr. Salah Bayoumi, Vice Chairman of the Holding Company; Engineer Tarek El Refaie, Assistant to the Minister of Housing; and Major General Engineer Sherif El Beily, Chairman of Kafr El Sheikh Water and Wastewater Company.
The visit comes in line with the directives of Engineer Randa El Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, to monitor the implementation progress of drinking water and wastewater projects and enhance the quality of services provided to citizens.
The Deputy Minister and the accompanying delegation began the tour by inspecting the Zaghloul Wastewater Treatment Plant, which is currently under construction with funding from the European Union and has a design capacity of 15,000 cubic meters per day.
The delegation reviewed implementation progress, completion rates, and the various stages of construction, while emphasizing adherence to the approved project timeline and the execution of works in accordance with the highest quality standards and technical specifications.
The tour also included a visit to the North Motobas Drinking Water Plant, one of the projects under the presidential “Decent Life” initiative for developing rural Egyptian villages. The plant has a design capacity of 30,000 cubic meters per day and serves approximately 65,000 residents.
The delegation reviewed the plant’s operational system and technical equipment to ensure the production of drinking water that meets approved quality standards. The deputy minister and his accompanying officials also inspected the wastewater treatment plant being implemented by the National Organization for Potable Water and Sanitary Drainage in El Qamsiyoun Village.
The plant has a design capacity of 15,000 cubic meters per day, and the visit focused on reviewing the project’s implementation status and its role in supporting wastewater services and improving service quality in the targeted areas.
The tour concluded with a visit to the Main Motobas Water Plant, which has a design capacity of 86,000 cubic meters per day and serves approximately 160,000 residents. The delegation reviewed the efficiency of plant operations, the water quality monitoring system, and the sustainability of service delivery to citizens.
In this context, Engineer Ahmed Omran emphasized that the ministry places great importance on field monitoring of drinking water and wastewater projects to ensure compliance with implementation schedules and targeted progress rates.
He stressed the need to complete projects according to the highest quality standards to maximize their benefits and contribute to improving the level of services provided to citizens, particularly within the projects of the presidential “Decent Life” initiative.
Major General Amin Shawky, Chairman of the National Organization for Potable Water and Sanitary Drainage, affirmed that the organization continues to implement its projects in accordance with the highest technical specifications while maintaining continuous monitoring of progress rates and construction quality.
This approach, he said, ensures the swift completion of projects, their entry into service, and the maximization of the state’s investments in the drinking water and wastewater sector. Engineer Mostafa El Shimy explained that bringing new projects into operation represents an important step toward enhancing the efficiency of the drinking water and wastewater system and improving service quality.
He noted that the Holding Company continuously monitors the readiness of treatment plants and operating systems to ensure the provision of safe, sustainable services to citizens while achieving the highest levels of operational efficiency.
At the conclusion of the tour, Major General Engineer Sherif Salem El Beily, chairman of Kafr El Sheikh Water and Wastewater Company, affirmed that the company continues implementing its plans to support drinking water and wastewater projects across the governorate while maintaining full compliance with quality standards and operational efficiency requirements.
These efforts, he said, contribute to improving the level of services provided to citizens and achieving the state’s objectives for developing the utilities sector.
