Detailed Review of Utility Projects Underway in Sadat City

Omran began his visit with a meeting at the office of Eng. Mohamed Adel Anwar, head of the Sadat City Development Authority, attended by the authority’s deputies, assistants to the authority’s head, and directors of the relevant departments. During the meeting, the implementation status of infrastructure and utility projects currently underway in the city was reviewed.

The meeting included a comprehensive presentation on completion rates and timelines for the various projects, in addition to reviewing the main challenges and obstacles facing the implementation of the works and discussing mechanisms for addressing and overcoming them to help accelerate progress.

During the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Housing for Utilities discussed work progress across the projects, stressing the need to intensify efforts and accelerate implementation while fully adhering to technical specifications, quality standards, and the established timelines. Following the meeting, the field tour began with inspections of project sites to review the actual implementation status of the works on the ground.

Follow-Up on the Development and Efficiency Upgrading of the Oxidation Ponds System

Eng. Ahmed Omran inspected the oxidation pond system to follow up on the ongoing development and efficiency upgrading works, as it is one of the important projects supporting the water treatment and reuse system in Sadat City.

The Deputy Minister of Housing for Utilities received a detailed briefing on the project’s components and implementation rates. The oxidation pond system consists of two main ponds, with the first measuring 500 meters by 500 meters and the second measuring 528 meters by 528 meters.

The development works include reinforcing the pond embankments along the entire perimeter, reshaping the existing water channel, and stone pitching the embankments, contributing to improved drainage efficiency and the preservation of the site’s infrastructure. The implementation rate of the project’s targeted investment plan has reached approximately 89%.

The works also include upgrading the tree forest pumping station by supporting it with two additional pumps and installing a 1.25 MVA electrical transformer to increase the quantities of water pumped to the tree forests and maximize the utilization of treated water.

The Deputy Minister of Housing also followed up on the cleaning works at Pond No. 2, where approximately 55% of the sludge removal works have been completed. He also inspected the additional water channel, which has been completed over an area of 170,000 square meters to handle additional quantities of treated water through seepage and evaporation.

Follow-Up on the Implementation of the New Drinking Water Treatment Plant

At the second stop of the tour, Eng. Ahmed Omran inspected the new drinking water treatment plant project in Sadat City and reviewed progress rates and the implementation status of the project’s various components.

The plant’s total planned capacity is 350,000 cubic meters per day, while the first phase, with a capacity of 87,500 cubic meters per day, is currently being implemented to meet the city’s drinking water needs, enhance supplies to residential areas, and support future development and urban expansion plans. The Deputy Minister of Housing for Utilities received a briefing on the ongoing works, with the civil works component of the project reaching approximately 60% completion.

Inspection of Two 1,500 mm-Diameter Raw Water Pipelines Extending 40 Kilometers

The Deputy Minister of Housing for Utilities also inspected the implementation of two 1,500 mm-diameter raw water pipelines, with a total length of 40 kilometers, extending from the raw water pumping station currently under construction on the Naseri Canal to the surface water treatment plant in Sadat City.

Eng. Ahmed Omran followed up on excavation works and the preparation of the route for the two pipelines, as well as the transportation, lowering, and installation of the pipes. He also reviewed implementation rates and completion percentages for the project.

Head of Sadat City Development Authority Affirms Continued Field Follow-Up

For his part, Eng. Mohamed Adel Anwar, Head of the Sadat City Development Authority, affirmed the continued field follow-up of the various utility and infrastructure projects currently underway in the city, along with ongoing coordination with the relevant entities, implementing companies, and supervising consultants, with the aim of accelerating completion rates and ensuring compliance with quality standards.

The Head of the Sadat City Development Authority noted that the implementation of drinking water, wastewater, and utility projects represents one of the main pillars supporting the city’s urban and industrial development plans, providing sustainable services that keep pace with residential and investment expansions and meet the current and future needs of the city’s residents, industrial areas, and investment zones.
