Dr. Ayman El-Shahaby, the Governor of Damietta, reviewed the progress of key water and wastewater infrastructure projects in the governorate during a meeting held today. He was joined by Damietta Deputy Governor Eng. Shaimaa El-Seddik, Assistant Secretary General Maj. Gen. Magdy El-Waseef, and several local leaders and officials from the sector.
The meeting was attended by prominent figures including Dr. Osama El-Abd, MPs Mohamed El-Hassi, Ali El-Assas, Evelyn Matti, Mahmoud Mesh’al, and Ahmed El-Balshi from the Senate. Key officials from the Ministry of Housing were also present, including Eng. Tarek El-Rifai, Assistant Minister for Utilities, and Eng. Eman Abdel-Razek, head of the Central Administration for Water and Wastewater Projects in Lower Egypt. In addition, Maj. Gen. Ahmed Shahin, Chairman of the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater in Damietta, Eng. Mahmoud Talaat, head of the National Authority for Drinking Water and Wastewater, and representatives from the project contractor, Arab Contractors, participated in the discussions.
The meeting reviewed the latest updates on the Shatt Ghriba Wastewater Project, addressing the obstacles affecting its completion and exploring solutions to ensure the project is finished according to the planned timeline. In addition, the discussion covered the status of other water and wastewater projects across Damietta, including developments in Kafr Saad under the presidential initiative “Decent Life,” as well as the first phase of the water pipeline to boost potable water supply to Ras El-Bar.
Governor El-Shahaby emphasized the governorate’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure, noting that these projects are critical to improving services for residents. He also expressed his dedication to collaborating with Parliament members and all relevant entities to overcome any challenges, ensuring that Damietta’s citizens receive the highest level of service and infrastructure support.
