Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, announced the completion of 2508 projects across 10 governorates as part of the first phase of the presidential initiative, “Decent Life,” aimed at developing Egypt’s rural areas.

The Central Agency for Reconstruction is managing 3631 developmental projects in 25 centers within 10 governorates, impacting 741 villages and their surrounding areas. These projects include constructing service and agricultural complexes, upgrading youth centers, building bridges over waterways, establishing healthcare facilities, ambulance points, and social solidarity services, as well as improving electricity networks, public lighting, and roads. Additionally, the initiative includes constructing residential buildings under the “Dignified Housing” program for citizens.

In a related meeting, Major General Mahmoud Nassar, Head of the Central Agency for Reconstruction, convened a video conference with executive heads to follow up on the progress of projects within the first phase of the initiative. He emphasized accelerating work on these projects and ensuring that contractors are paid promptly to meet project deadlines.

During the meeting, Nassar relayed the directives from political leadership to expedite project completion while maintaining the highest quality standards. He reiterated Minister El-Sherbiny’s instructions for continuous monitoring and emphasized prioritizing projects with high completion rates to ensure citizens benefit from the initiative’s investments.

The meeting also reviewed the status of projects in various governorates, including Qalyubia, Fayoum, Damietta, Gharbia, Kafr El Sheikh, Beni Suef, Minya, Assiut, Luxor, and Aswan. Nassar highlighted the completion of 176 out of 178 service complexes and 171 out of 178 agricultural complexes, designed to streamline services for rural communities.

Moreover, 467 youth centers have been completed, offering facilities such as sports fields, green spaces, cafeterias, and activity centers. In the healthcare sector, 225 out of 460 health units have been upgraded, aligning with Egypt’s comprehensive health insurance system. Additionally, 185 out of 186 ambulance points have been completed, improving emergency response services.

The meeting also addressed the completion of 453 out of 454 irrigation bridges, ensuring effective waterway management and connectivity between villages. Furthermore, 646 out of 728 electricity and lighting projects have been finalized, enhancing public services in rural areas.

In social services, 125 out of 160 social units have been completed, including family development centers, and 25 out of 31 residential buildings under the “Dignified Housing” initiative have been finished. Road development projects have also progressed, with 35 out of 730 projects completed, facilitating transportation and improving access to services across the villages.

These comprehensive efforts under the “Decent Life” initiative aim to elevate the living standards of Egypt’s rural population and contribute to the country’s broader development goals.
