Engineer Randa El Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, reviewed the achievements of housing projects implemented by the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) and the General Authority for Construction and Housing Cooperatives from 2014 through June 2026, as part of the New Republic under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The Minister of Housing explained that the total number of housing units completed, under construction, or offered for implementation through the two authorities reached 1,150,322 diversified housing units, distributed across new cities and governorates, in addition to projects for the redevelopment of informal and unsafe areas.
She added that the ministry’s housing policy is based on three main pillars: providing luxury and middle-income housing units, alongside subsidized housing for low-income citizens, across both new urban communities and existing urban areas.
The minister noted that 858,073 housing units have been completed and 277,365 units are currently under construction, while the implementation of an additional 14,884 units has been offered.
Engineer Randa El Menshawy also reviewed a report submitted by the New Urban Communities Authority and the General Authority for Construction and Housing Cooperatives covering their efforts from 2014 through June 2026.
According to the report, regarding housing projects for low-income citizens and youth, NUCA implemented the “Housing for All Egyptians” initiative (Low-Income Housing Program) across 27 new cities, with unit sizes ranging from 75 to 90 square meters.
A total of 642,610 units have been completed, 188,532 units are under construction, and the implementation of 2,784 additional units has been offered. The project forms part of the authority’s contribution to the state’s plan to provide suitable housing with high-quality finishing standards for youth and low-income families.
The report further explained that, regarding middle-income housing projects, the authority implemented units under several developments, including Dar Misr, Sakan Misr, Housing for All Egyptians (Middle-Income Housing Program), distinguished modern housing projects, Diarna, Valley Towers East, Rawdat Al Obour, and others across 26 new cities.
Unit sizes range from 100 to 150 square meters, with 173,132 units completed, 27,003 units currently under construction, and 11,476 units offered for implementation, reflecting the authority’s commitment to providing architecturally distinguished housing for middle-income citizens.
The report also indicated that, regarding upper-middle-income housing projects, the authority launched premium residential developments with above-average finishing standards in 6th of October City, New Cairo, and New Alamein, featuring unit sizes ranging from 100 to 150 square meters. A total of 12,342 units have been completed, while 5,790 units are currently under construction.
The report added that, concerning luxury housing projects, the authority launched several residential developments, including Janna, distinguished and mixed-use housing, residential units in the Central Business District of the New Administrative Capital, New Alamein Towers, Maspero Towers, Sawary Towers, residential units in the Magra El Oyoun development, residential villas, the Zelal project, and others across 16 existing and new urban communities.
Unit sizes range from 110 to 340 square meters, with 73,580 units completed, 56,299 units under construction, and 624 units offered for implementation. The report also highlighted alternative housing projects for residents of informal and unsafe areas, where the authority implemented several developments to provide decent housing and improve living conditions.
These projects include the Al Salam District Project in Obour City, the Zohour May Project in 15th of May City, the Sen El Agouz Project in Hadayek October City, and the alternative housing project in the Maspero Triangle area. A total of 5,700 housing units have been completed, while 510 units are currently under construction.
In a related context, the report reviewed the achievements of the General Authority for Construction and Housing Cooperatives during the period from 2014 through June 2026. The authority implemented 4,592 housing units in New Cairo, 6th of October, Badr, 10th of Ramadan, and New Damietta.
It also planned, designed, allocated, and provided infrastructure for residential land plots designated for housing cooperative societies, covering a total area of 629 feddans in New Cairo, 6th of October, Badr, 10th of Ramadan, New Damietta, New Borg El Arab, New Minya, and New Assiut. Through these cooperative societies, 30,617 housing units have been completed.
The report further noted that the authority also implemented 4,945 housing units in the governorates of Dakahlia, Suez, Port Said, and Beheira, in addition to several service projects.
These include an administrative building covering 1,550 square meters, a commercial mall spanning 4,200 square meters, a mosque with an area of 407 square meters in Dakahlia Governorate, another mosque covering 1,240 square meters in Suez Governorate, an entertainment commercial center, a multi-story parking garage, and four administrative buildings comprising a total of 352 units in Port Said Governorate.
The authority also completed 73 workshops ranging from 38 to 68 square meters, 111 retail shops ranging from 19 to 80 square meters, and a commercial building in Beheira Governorate.
